This evening City Council voted unanimously in support of the resolution I created in collaboration with community advocates that refers a measure to voters this November to add a new police oversight system into the city charter. (Thread 1/14)

Tonight we will file a lawsuit in federal court against U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Federal Protection Service alleging they seized and detained Oregonians without probable cause.

I’m a whole PRINCIPAL y’all! I’m still overcome w emotion (mainly shock) at the incredible opportunity to serve.
Today I joined Parkrose families for a #BlackLivesMatter march thru our neighborhood and I was greeted w some sinage that made me shriek!

Sigh. It’s still worth celebrating and crying then getting to work to elect Joe Biden as president in November.

This picture really troubles me. Armed forces in the nation’s capital, appearing to have been stripped of all badges and name tags—making them totally unaccountable to the people—is something I’d expect to see from a dictatorship, not a democracy.

No more brutality. No more murder. No more hashtags.
Just justice.
May it rain down like a mighty river.

Reasons to not get over excited about hydroxychloroquine:
1. Early promising therapies often disappoint
2. There are known toxicities & dangerous drug interactions
3. People need these meds for evidence-based indications (eg., RA, SLE)
Wait for the studies. Don't hoard.

We cannot sacrifice the future of our medical profession. Our sworn duty is to first, do no harm. We must advocate for our physicians in training across the country and protect them! #Solidarity #GME #Covid_19 forbes.com/sites/jacquelynco… – at Portland, OR

Here I am being interviewed this morning on X-RAY-FM. I would’ve preferred being in the studio with headphones and microphone, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to discuss my plans to improve the lives of all Oregonians. #CODVID19RecoveryPlan #Orleg #XRAYFM @xrayfm

Oregon looking good!
Washington got hit first but seems to be doing it right.
What can we learn from each other?
If we aren't certain we can count on the federal strategy, states can learn from each other. Thanks @profwade_ for state-specific data

I will block the next person who says “the @CDCgov recommends...”
If you haven’t noticed, the CDC is nowhere to be found in this pandemic. They have no information. That are not applying any lessons learned in Asia. They are absent in this disaster.

Data for March 23 of #COVID19 death rates. These numbers can still be affected by increased testing [so that some deaths are attributed to COVID19 that otherwise would not be] but it is still very troubling, especially the doubling rates.
March 23rd update on curves, data via @jburnmurdoch @FT
1. US Deaths curve continues on a very steep course, about to hit Iran
2. New city/region map shows the severe slope in Madrid, emerging as worst fatality region (note NYC, it's early but an especially worrisome look)

This is Dr. Usama Riaz. He spent past weeks screening and treating patients with Corona Virus in Pakistan.
He knew there was no PPE. He persisted anyways.
Today he lost his own battle with coronavirus but he gave life and hope to so many more.
KNOW HIS NAME 😭❤

Keep pushing @dex_max! My sister & mom are Boston-area health care providers serving #COVID19 patients. Some clinics don’t have the test. Frontline workers & their loved ones are vulnerable- we need gowns, gloves, and n95 masks now! #GetThemPPE #TeamMaxine

As the son of a journalist, I know reporters play a key role in providing information their communities need daily & especially in challenging times. Glad to see this initiative by Oregon newsrooms across our state during the #COVID19 public health crisis.
Several Oregon newsrooms are sharing content regarding the coronavirus outbreak. Why? @tbottomly of @Oregonian explains. @soljourno @report4america @SalemReporter @MalheurNews #Localjournalism oregonlive.com/opinion/2020/…
