I am offended by Trump.
But I’m even more offended by the Christians who support him.
He just called an entire group of people garbage. And that is an insult to God.
Every person from Somalia is a precious child of God, made in the image of God.
God does not make trash.
No human being is garbage.
Rebuke it - in the name of Jesus.

One cannot love God without extending one’s love to the poor. Love for our neighbor is tangible proof of the authenticity of our love for God. The Lord himself teaches us: “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me” (Mt 25:40). #DilexiTe
Jesus lived in a society whose survival depended on weather and growing seasons. Yet he said: Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things (what you eat, drink, wear) will be given to you.
Just started “Intercultural Ministry” edited by @Gracejisunkim and Jann Aldredge-Clanton.
It’s going to be good!
“The more interracial and intercultural a congregation can become, the more possibility there is of building the reign of God here on earth.”

There’s an amazing contrast found between Genesis 11 (Tower of Babel) and Genesis 12 (The Call of Abraham).
In short, there are two ways of living:
1. Creating our own story and trying to build our own name.
2. Finding ourselves in God’s story and letting God name us.

🚨Shackled migrants in Miami were forced to kneel and eat off the floor “like animals,” a harrowing scene advocates say exposes systemic cruelty in U.S. immigration jails — and a moral reckoning America can no longer ignore.

More targeting of persecuted Christians by ICE.
An pastor filmed as ICE agents arrested two of his church members. He told the agents that the Iranian couple was fleeing religious persecution. They're asylum-seekers, he said. "It doesn't matter," one of the agents replied. My latest for @CTmagazine tinyurl.com/2w4m66ce

Get ready.
This Saturday.
Protests everywhere.
Join your local revolution.
There is no king if we don’t bow down.
As the U.S. moves to isolate itself from most of the rest of the world, except perhaps Russia, this speech by Frenchmen Claude Malheuret describes the situation well, and what that means for the rest of the Western world

Definition of “evil”: actions expressed through a complete lack of empathy
If at least partially accurate, then to change that, we need to intentionally nurture empathy throughout our circles of influence

Do not travel to Western North Carolina. Emergency vehicles and rescue crews need access for emergency purposes.

Not sure what the #DEI fuss is about.
I worked with women, men originally from outside of U.S.: India, Israel, Korea, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, UK, Canada…
I am richer for learning from others who differ from me. These have been my colleagues.
Some became very dear friends.
Amazing Northern Lights from #Maine last night. #Auroraborealis
Weather forecasting is, above all else, about safety…
It's tough to see what happened around here on Wednesday, and to envision what could happen on Saturday. As a forecaster, you see the train coming. You know lives, property, and the landscape will forever be altered. You do your absolute best to alert the public to get them to prepare.
The storm hits.
The images of destruction roll in.
Comments by people saying caught off guard and/or unprepared and blaming forecasters litter social media feeds. Government officials are caught off guard, and they too blame forecasters for it.
Whatever happened to personal responsibility to stay aware and updated on the weather?
Is society so distracted by streaming services, flipping through the phone watching mindless videos, and doing other mindless things to mentally check out and be oblivious to the world around us? Is all this media making us all numb? Is there a lack of education around weather related phenomena and how it can impact your home, family, business, and region?
These are all questions I ask myself when I see these comments.
This is part of what motivates me to do what I do. I know I am a one-man band fighting a long uphill battle that I will never win on my own, but dammit, I keep going. Any lives, businesses or property saved is worth it... for those that choose to listen.
Per @kkdumez, Christian men have often shifted to be more like John Wayne than Jesus
Perhaps the solution is described in what Tom Johnston wrote in "The Way of the Master": Rabbi Jesus focused on illumination, incarnation, and impartation in community rather than personal power
Bright full moon on Saturday night, just below the trees.
Almost looks like daytime!
