Public speaking is one of the greatest moats against AI. If you're a founder, CEO, executive or in any kind of leadership position.... Being able to speak live in front of a crowd, tell stories, answer questions etc is going to be an elite skill.

Remember that case that went viral a few months ago about the 80 yo woman with advanced Alzheimer’s who took a hero’s dose (5g) of psilocybin mushrooms and seemingly reversed her disease? Well @PsychoMechanics and I dove into the research, and while it’s still very early days, there’s compelling biological explanations for how magic mushrooms could play a role in both treating and preventing cognitive decline/dementia. Here’s how: Structural neuroplasticity: 5-HT2A receptor activation appears to promote dendritic growth, synaptogenesis, and plasticity-related signaling. Very relevant in a disease characterized by progressive synaptic loss. Apical hypercontextualization: Psilocybin may amplify signaling through layer V pyramidal neuron apical dendrites, increasing the brain’s sensitivity to contextual information and potentially enabling dysfunctional predictive models to be updated. Neuroinflammation + neuroprotection: Serotonergic psychedelic signaling may modulate inflammatory pathways and cellular stress responses implicated in neurodegeneration. Disease-modifying behavior change: Most compellingly (to me), psilocybin can open up a critical learning window in which entrenched behaviors become more malleable. This can help modify upstream dementia risk factors including physical inactivity, depression, smoking, harmful alcohol use, and social isolation. I made a Youtube video explaining these concepts for a general audience. Check it out, and please share with anyone who wants to prevent cognitive decline!

"I don't think minds are made—either biologically or by AI—I think what you make are interfaces." It was a delight chatting with @drmichaellevin for my new podcast, Human Potential Lab. We nerded out about where genius comes from. Watch the full episode: youtube.com/watch?v=XTL9PxDm…

I personally think the purpose of life is to optimize conscious feelings. But you/we need a mechanism for consciousness. The only plausible theory with evidence is 0rch OR pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3578…
Do you think you could have a scientific hypothesis of the meaning of life? Or would that be a category mistake?

Another incorrect statement... Positron emission tomography = PET
Hmm, incorrect. The 1997 FDG-PET study measured glucose metabolism, not blood flow. The new study measured perfusion using arterial spin labelling (ASL), not BOLD fMRI. Psilocybin-induced vasoconstriction is well documented. Metabolism ≠ blood flow. But agreed, fMRI is messy.

Does red laser light help the brain detoxify aluminum? We show an 880% increase in urinary aluminum after using 660nm red laser light 3x/day. Nothing ingested or injected. Nothing touching the body. Just light. We send $50m to the Ivy leagues to find the autism gene, while dads like @ZaharakisAlex builds a laser in his garage to demonstrate what we should focus on if we want to really find solutions for those who need help now. F's given: zero. drbognerhealth.com/laser-cas… doi.org/10.3389/fped.2026.18… @HHSGov @SecKennedy @NIHDirector_Jay @ChildrensHD

It’s truly sad to have to ask an LLM what life is. First, consider the following from a human. 1) living systems transcend scale, from tiny picosecond activities to lumbering movements of à pachyderm. They apparently require polyatomic time crystals to do so ingentaconnect.com/content/i… 2) the unity of living systems depends on quantum coherence, entanglement and condensation in organic aromatic quantum-friendly regions where anesthetics act. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3578… 3) The purpose and motivation for life is probably pleasureable feelings, present in all living systems and not just complex brains (how dumb is that!!) sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
I've been meaning to share these thoughts for a while and touched on them briefly in a recent conference talk. They are relevant to a lot of the discussions today.

The new Alzheimer's drug lecanemab slowed decline 27% in an 18-month trial of 1,795 people. That's a 0.45-point difference on the main score. Brain swelling (ARIA-E): 12.6% vs 1.7% on placebo. Modest gain. Real risk. Ask hard questions. ccjm.org/page/aan-2023/lecan…

Loneliness isn't just sad. It's dangerous. Especially in the elderly. A review covering 3.4 million+ people found a 26% higher risk of early death with loneliness, 29% with social isolation, and 32% with living alone. This hug is medicine. Call your parents. Visit. Show up.

Meditating 14hrs a day in Vippasana retreat led to me seeing this on the 2nd or 3rd day itself. This led to me being unconscious and literally experiencing jhana 6. I think you can tap into it faster if your internal nodes are open and you absorb things quickly and at a better rate. It feels like merging with the universe with every cell of your body

New pre-print data: A quantum state was found underlying the function of mitochondria. Add that to the already peer-reviewed data demonstrating quantum biologic electron tunneling in mitochondria. Everything we think we know about biology & physics is about to be turned upside down in the next 5 years. "The high energy-efficiency of life is hard to understand only with classical physics...Here, combining experiments on cells, tissues and mitochondria with a theoretical model, we demonstrate a quantum state of mitochondria, which can be employed to modulate ATP production in living cells."
