Kenyans are truly PECULIAR. They can’t tell how the one who stole their votes in 2013. 2017, and 2022, abused them and called Raila Odinga names, can now be their savior. Fact is they are as tribal as Rigathi who they claim to dislike.

Talanta Stadium was budgeted at KSh 35 billion, but we ended up paying KSh 45.85 billion. That is an additional KSh 10.85 billion that was likely pocketed by Ruto and his friends. A similar 60,000-seater stadium in Ivory Coast the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé, which hosted the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations cost only KSh 33 billion. Last month, Harambee Stars players went on strike over unpaid allowances of approximately KSh 80,000 per player. Yet Mr Ruto is ready to pay Bayern Munich and Ajax between KSh 250–300 million each in appearance fees just to come and officially open Talanta Stadium. That figure does not even include air travel, accommodation, security, and other related expenses. Ruto wants to pay foreign teams to play at our stadium while inviting our own football stars and aspiring players to sit as spectators. There is zero value for Kenya in bringing wazungu teams to open our stadium. If they want to play here, they should sponsor themselves not at the expense of a country that cannot pay its teachers and doctors. If we must invite foreign teams, then in the spirit of Pan-Africanism, why not invite the Africa Cup of Nations champions Senegal, or our neighbours from the East African Community? We should ask their governments to honour us by sending and covering the cost of their national teams to come play at the opening of an expensive stadium that was never even a priority. Better still, why not organise a week-long football tournament for young footballers from every county, with prize money of KSh 5 million or more? Talanta Stadium is ours. We will not allow our taxes to pay for foreign teams. I have instructed my lawyer to file a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to obtain the full cost of this proposed exhibition match. I refuse the wastage of taxpayers’ money, and I shall move to court if Ruto does not stop this hallucination. We must invest in our own footballers. Talanta Stadium official opening match should be an opportunity for Kenyan players to shine not a stage to entertain Ruto’s fantasies of hosting Bayern Munich and Ajax Amsterdam. Football fans worldwide should also know this: since William Ruto took office in September 2022 through September 2026, police officers have killed 3,958 Kenyans. That averages nearly three Kenyans killed every day by the brutal police force working under Ruto’s regime. These two teams should decline any invitation to do public relations for a government that kills its own citizens simply for demanding better governance. Tumekataa.

We are a tragedy of our post-independence history. I illustrate it as a Tale of Two Nations. Tanzania: Julius Nyerere built a new nation out of the myriad communities. He gave Tanzanians a collective identity. Kenya: Jomo Kenyatta built a successful economy in divided society

A bogus nation: I recall the corruption at SGR, Eurobond n NYS. The Kikuyus vehemently defended Uhuru and roundly insulted David Ndii who was exposing them. Now, as long as a stadium is named after Raila, no accountability is needeed We are just a collection of TRIBES

Rwanda is hosting F1. Did you see Kagame rushing to the track to record a video of himself announcing it? In fact, it was the minister who made the announcement. Your president has turned everything into a campaign tool. Even a simple friendly football match, funded by taxpayers, has to be announced with all the political theatrics. Politicians, CSs, chiefs and village elders affiliated with the government must all flood social media with captions praising him and his regime for organising it. The joke really does tell itself.

President Ruto is preparing to give Bayern Munich and Ajax a grand welcome for the opening of Raila Odinga Stadium on 5 January. Fine. But before the government turns the occasion into a global spectacle, Kenyans deserve a full disclosure of the financial arrangements. How much is the taxpayer paying for this football extravaganza? How much are the clubs receiving? Who is financing their travel, accommodation, security, logistics and participation? What is the government's contribution, what are private sponsors covering, and what measurable economic returns will Kenya receive? These are not anti-football questions. They are questions of public finance, fiscal responsibility and accountability. Kenya is operating under severe fiscal constraints. Hospitals need medicines, health workers need reliable funding, public schools require adequate capitation, and millions of households are struggling with the cost of living. Every public expenditure must therefore be evaluated against competing priorities and the value it delivers to citizens. The economic principle is straightforward: every shilling spent has an opportunity cost. Money committed to one purpose cannot simultaneously finance another. That does not mean Kenya should abandon sports investment; it means the government must demonstrate that its spending is justified, transparent and economically sustainable. An international football event can stimulate hospitality, tourism, transport, retail and employment. But these benefits cannot simply be presumed. The government should publish its expenditure commitments, disclose the sponsorship arrangements, provide credible estimates of expected revenue and subject the final accounts to independent audit. We must also distinguish the cost of constructing the stadium from the cost of staging the event. They are separate financial questions and must be accounted for separately. President Ruto cannot invoke the prestige of international football as a substitute for fiscal disclosure. Bayern Munich and Ajax are coming to play football, not to certify Kenya's economic priorities. Let the stadium open. Let the fans enjoy the game. Let Kenya welcome the world. But let the government publish the bill. A government earns public confidence not by the size of the spectacle it stages, but by its willingness to account for every shilling it spends. Kenyans are citizens and taxpayers, not an audience expected to applaud without asking questions.

Talanta Stadium pia ni vyombo vya wageni? Why does this government suffer from such a strangling depth of self esteem? nitter.cf/Waziri_Mvurya/status/2…
𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗗𝗢𝗪𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗞𝗜𝗖𝗞-𝗢𝗙𝗙 𝗕𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗦: 𝗕𝗔𝗬𝗘𝗥𝗡 𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗛 𝗫 𝗔𝗝𝗔𝗫! 🇰🇪⚽ It was a distinct honor to host representatives of German football giants FC Bayern München and Dutch powerhouse AFC Ajax during their visit to Kenya to assess our preparedness and capacity to host a historic international football encounter at the Raila Odinga International Stadium, Talanta Sports City. Our discussions were fruitful and constructive, paving the way for the much-anticipated clash between the two European clubs, scheduled for 5 January 2027, in what promises to be a landmark moment for Kenyan football. I reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to a whole-of-government approach in delivering this historic event, facilitating the delegation’s engagements with key sectors, including the Min of Tourism and Wildlife as well as the Min of Interior and National Administration, to demonstrate Kenya’s capability to provide the necessary security, immigration, travel and hospitality arrangements for the teams, officials and international fans expected to attend.

Inviting foreign teams to launch our stadium is very insulting to our national pride…What a harebrained idea! Why not even bring the secondary school tournament finals? Why not let Edwin Sifuna launch it with a Linda Mwananchi mega rally?

Our Clarion call on 5th January 2027 at Talanta Stadium: RUTO MUST GO. We must deliver the message to Kasongo . Loud and very clear!!
Somebody calls a whole press conference to announce that ati Bayern Munich will be playing Ajax in Kenya! Kenyans held their breath, hoping the big announcement would be some tax relief, or lower fuel prices, or some relief from the unbearable cost of living. Only to be told about a football match! We seriously need a President.

We can't afford to pay our national team's dues in time or finance Kelvin Kiarie to go represent Kenya at a skating event, but yeah, let's pay Bayern Munich and Ajax Amsterdam millions to come inaugurate a stadium with a bloated budget.
