I was naive to think the sign did not need to be tapped as loudly and as often, but here we are:
Requiring approved accommodations is basically saying you think disabled people should have to jump through BS flaming hoops for just the *chance* of having an equitable experience.
I’ve had same awkward, not “online” convo multiple times today. Other person mentions how having something stolen is such horrible violation of one’s property & then I say something like, “I mean I’m surrounded by ableists constantly so who knows.”Like I said, it gets awkward.
Funny how the people I really, really, really, deeply dislike still rank way higher on my dislike scale than whomever stole my car.
We still have storytelling.
The Milwaukee Brewers had people sharing a lot of sad stories over the past few days. A lot of happy ones, too. In a world of screens and silos, sports are one of our last bastions for connection.

As someone who continues to mask and having now had my car stolen, I’ll tell you where my mind went almost instantly:
What the fuck am I supposed to go about theft of my car? There’s no agency possible. And I get having agency. Random crime is what it is.
Reporting police officer just called me back wanting to confirm a detail: “You said you had fifty frisbees in the car’s trunk, correct?” he asked, somewhat incredulously. He then asked for a valuation for 50 frisbees. 🤣
(At some points in past, it’s been 100-150 discs!)
The thing with having my car stolen is I think I’m done with cars. Thank you, whoever you are, for making me car free as I just don’t have it in me to want another one.
You think my partner working in another city during the week would make having my car stolen a bigger issue but we’ve navigated so many things across 17 years, most of them “two city,” that we just shrug, laugh, and get to work.
What needs to happen when I feel overwhelmed at the world is having my car stolen.
Oddly, I am handling it quite well. Like what the fuck am I going to do about it exactly?
That car is like keys in a lava flow.

Daughter was struggling with Math, today I do her math hw with her and she gets it no problem. I said wow you are doing great what happened and she goes "they realized I wasn't learning on the computer so an actual teacher is doing it with me instead"

I kind of feel like all of "why won't these idiots accept this one clever trick to fix education" folks should get one season and then have to fuck off forever instead of resurfacing with new terrible ideas every couple years.

Wow. Dartmouth College Provost Santiago Schnell “has resigned as provost and is leaving the university” over his use of AI.
After Semafor and The Dartmouth reported on suspected AI-generated content in his writing, a faculty panel determined he had violated College policies.
Watching people at all levels of education and in all kinds of positions accept the socio-political invitation to move right is both something and also entirely predictable.
Both the invitation to wield authority and the promise of favor are deeply desired by many in education.

I mentioned that maybe the semester should be over after 10 weeks and people are asking if I want quarters or stating that is what I am describing, so I feel the need to be explicit:
10-week semesters.
Keep your logic and whatever else out of it.
I know there’s a lot of tension surrounding 3-year degrees.
I think they are an awful idea.
But, at the same time, you could convince me that the 14/15/16 week semester is no longer ideal.
It’s week 10 here and maybe that’s good enough?
