What I really dislike about student AI use is the introduction of misinformation and falsehoods about my class, which I designed, into my class. Misunderstandings and confusion caused by learning and being human are inevitable. Falsehoods and wrong information are a choice.

Being normal is such a pathetic goal. Lots of normal things hurt people or are unhealthy. Regardless, concerns around PASC and C19 are not about trust. We don't have treatments, and vaccines are a powerful but limited tool. You can't assess fear while ignorant of the risks.

A lot of you seem to have, like, a pseudo-religious faith in mental health professionals. In my opinion, most are more liable to retraumatize than help, especially facing anything severe. People in need, particularly if without insurance, often have no real help available. None.

disabled Canadians would have liked to get more than a $4.20/m bump to the Canada Disability Benefit, but I suppose there are more important matters to 'invest' in. half of all PWD aren't even getting it due to restrictions and not auto enrolling everyone on provincial supports.

Computers used to 'boot up.' Printers took so long you could have lunch waiting for one document. Internet connection and upload/download was painstakingly slow. Elder millennials and Gen X know. Where is all that extra time now? Not leisure.
If AI was going to liberate the working class, computers would have already done so. Between the late 1970's and 2019, worker productivity in Canada grew 60%. Did you get 60% fewer work hours with the same quality of life? No. AI won't liberate you under capitalism either.

welcome to higher education, where you can either cave to AI and postliteracy or cosplay other epochs. technocracy or nostalgia. take your pick

it's terrible though, that we seem stuck between a university modeled on Silicon Valley and the university as museum

maybe that's why Great Books humanities gives me a similar vibe as New Urbanism. they're both museums. or Disneylands

Watching people at all levels of education and in all kinds of positions accept the socio-political invitation to move right is both something and also entirely predictable. Both the invitation to wield authority and the promise of favor are deeply desired by many in education.
