Many books on autism tell you about autism.
This book is different it discusses you, how it will change you, how you can choose do things differently, work around gatekeepers, get financial discounts (on council tax for example), access social security and direct payments
Hmmmm, the utopian version of services.
The brutal reality is quite different. Level 1 & 2’s needs are assumed to be less.
Less usually means no services.
Often when “less” needs are ignored, they fester & become deadly,
Needs are different never less.
Thank you @johnharris1969 for your excellent discussion of the debate around autism and over diagnosis theguardian.com/society/2026… Even if the solution is "precision subgrouping", we need to ensure that people in all subgroups receive equal high quality support services based on their needs, and without having to wait for an unreasonable amount of time to receive both precision diagnosis and individualised support

why is the single person council tax discount only 25% & not 50%?
Being a single earner with all the bills fucking sucks

Seen this on Facebook & had to post it because it's the reality of truth #HangYourHeadsInShame
Fantastic focus on care workers.
Sadly as always zip on the silent majority of unpaid carers.

Dear poppy police,
I am a veteran - I don’t wear a poppy.
I donate to the cause but expect nothing- not even a token to prove I have been good.
Leave people alone.
Thank you

There are some experiences in life
that stay with us long after they happen.
I know that from personal experience.
I was once threatened with a knife, and the
impact of that experience has stayed with me.
Living with PTSD means that certain things
can bring those memories and feelings back.

It is fashionable to bash disabled people for the cost of welfare.
Sadly, many help to keep the bill down by struggling on.
So read this first, before you resort to 1930s rhetoric!

Ah the poem - that ignores the first victims.
Do you know who they were?

I wonder if those who read this newspaper can think for themselves?
Dyslexia is a pain.
ADHD is a pain.
A rail-card is Paid for by the person using it!

At the very height of the British Empire.
Here is a young British lad in London enjoying the fruits of the Empire.
Look at his privilege...

For the love of Odin!
"This is not what disability benefits are for.”
@jhansonradio calls it 'absurd' that people are able to get discounted rail fares because they have ADHD.

To all the people who say that ADHD is not real.
My son was diagnosed as ADHD at aged 7. He is far from lazy. He has a full time job that he gets up for every single day. ADHD does not mean someone is lazy. But it is real.
I’ve watched my son in tears - saying he needed a new brain.
I’ve had notes pushed under my door in the middle of the night, asking for help because his brain wouldn’t go to sleep and he kept getting flashbacks of the Chucky doll we had seen in planet Hollywood.
I’ve seen the genuine shock on his face when he realises that what he has just said is inappropriate but he has no filter and it just comes out.
There are many other stories I could tell you. But you know what? I’m glad my son has ADHD - he is energetic, a lovely person, incredibly smart and hilariously funny. ADHD is what makes him, him.
Hope I have enlightened you a little.

“Mild” is a medical term.
Medical people are restrained & conservative in the language they use.
“Mild” doesn’t mean bland, trivial or of no consequence.
“Mild” here is BRUTAL in comparison to “normal”.
“Mild” means DESPAIR.
“Mild” can quickly become SEVERE.
Handing out disabled rail cards and 30% discounts to people with mild mental health conditions is mad.
And to force doctors and health proesssionals into a gatekeeping role is worse still.
At a time when the Government should be reducing the welfare bill they are expanding benefit entitlements even further.
The Labour Party is the Welfare Party.

Gay people served & died.
If you care more about a badge than service & the sacrifice ask yourself why?
As a veteran I don’t care for performative nonsense. I don’t wear a poppy but I donate each year.
