Volunteering at #DevFestKla26 today and somehow still learning new things. My brain refused to just “help out” and decided to take notes instead. Is this allowed? 😂
Come join me.

Thrilled to announce that I’ve been selected as one of the 40 participants for the 2026 UCC Testbed Hackathon!
Organised by the Uganda Communications Commission @UCC_Official in partnership with the National ICT Innovation Hub @innovationhubug , UICT Nakawa @UICTug , RENU @RENU_256 and other partners from 5–6 November 2026 at the UCC Testbed and Innovation Hub, UICT Nakawa.
The theme, “Innovating Safer Cyber Spaces for Children through Artificial Intelligence” is one that hits home deeply. Rapid digital growth in Uganda creates real opportunities for education, creativity and inclusion. Yet, as the recent UCC Kampala survey shows, the risks are rising fast. Cyberbullying, exploitation and AI-enabled manipulation are intensifying the challenge. If we don’t strengthen the tools, systems and responses that protect what children see and experience online, we risk losing the very future we are building.
This opportunity means a lot personally. My very first hackathon was in 2024, right at the start of my tech journey. I walked in afraid, underqualified and unsure I belonged. Today I am selected to build solutions with and for @UCC_Official on a mission that protects children. I am determined to write a positive story, one that contributes practical AI-driven tools for content filtering, parental controls, better reporting, response and referral systems.
Grateful for the orientation session and the chance to work with mentors and fellow innovators using the National Communications Testbed. Looking forward to collaborating, learning and delivering impact under the guidance of leaders like @UCC_ED and the wider ecosystem including @MoICT_Ug, @azawedde, @Bbossa, @UgCERT and @ConsumerUCC.

Roughly 46 million people, more than 73 percent under the age of 30, and about 10.7 million formally classified as youth (18–30). Half the population is under 18. This is the central structural fact of national development. Policies that treat this majority as a passive beneficiary class rather than as co-authors with lived knowledge of unemployment, skills mismatches, informal livelihoods, climate risk, and digital opportunity will systematically underperform. The cost shows up in high NEET rates, weak labour-market matching, and innovation ecosystems that remain thinner than the talent pool available.
Effective youth participation is not symbolic consultation. It is the deliberate construction of policy literacy, evidence-based advocacy capacity, and institutional access so that students can diagnose problems, propose workable instruments, and hold processes accountable. This requires organisations that treat young people as principals rather than projects. @Mtindo_Network, a youth-led think tank based in Kampala, has built its work around exactly that premise: free-enterprise advocacy, business incubation, climate resilience, and civic engagement. Its partnership with @AtlasNetwork connects Ugandan students to a global network of organisations that measure policy impact by real-world outcomes property rights, entrepreneurship, and limited government rather than rhetoric. Parallel collaboration with the International Policy Center for Sustainable Development @ipc4sd and the UN Youth Coalition for the SDGs @Youth4SDGsUga , alongside institutional support from the Office of the Prime Minister @OPMUganda , creates a rare alignment of grassroots capacity, technical frameworks, and government entry points.
The practical expression of this approach is the inaugural National Students Policy Summit on 5 November 2026. Hosted at the National ICT & Innovation Hub in Nakawa @innovationhubug , a facility designed for co-creation....the summit runs from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and is structured to move students from awareness to capability.
This matters because the alternative is visible in the data: large cohorts of young people whose education and experience remain disconnected from the policy instruments that govern jobs, digital infrastructure, agricultural markets, and climate adaptation. When students who understand both classroom theory and street-level constraints help shape those instruments, the resulting policies tend to be more precise, more legitimate, and more likely to survive contact with implementation. Organisations such as @Mtindo_Network, working with @AtlasNetwork and the partners above, are building the infrastructure for that shift rather than waiting for it to occur by invitation.
I will be there at the National Students Policy Summit on 5 November 2026 at the National ICT & Innovation Hub, Nakawa. If you are a student, educator, or practitioner who believes policy improves when the people who will live with it longest help design it, join the vision. The conversation is already moving; the question is whether student analysis will be inside it or outside it. #NSPS2026 #Studentvoicesinpolicy

While we are being asked to drive only when we must and be patient on the dollar rise and weakening shilling.... Government has revised allowances.
I couldn't be more happier today after I learned of the news. A big congratulations to you @TrassyleenO on getting in the EAC Youth Fellowship. I wish a fruitful experience in Arusha
