Superb! 96 days to publication beats 250 days elsewhere. GAME CHANGER for endometriosis research. Faster sharing helps us train clinicians better! 👏
1/ Three years ago, we completely changed the way we review and publish research articles.
Today, we’re taking a look at how it’s going and what’s next.

#LatestStudy by @charuhansini & team from @stpalli's lab shows yeast can rapidly evolve freeze–thaw tolerance via a quiescence-like shift, boosting survival from ~2% to ~70%, providing new insights into microbial survival under extreme conditions

@eLife
We exposed yeast to -196 C freeze-thaw (without cryoprotectants) and interesting things happened -- the survival went up from about 1% to close to 80% in just 25 cycles!
The preprint is out and feedback is highly welcome -- biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Some #fungi become dangerous by changing shape — from a mild form to an invasive, disease-causing one.
Scientists at @CCMB_CSIR have discovered the trigger: sugar metabolism acts like a switch that enables this transformation. Block the sugar pathway, and fungi stay in their less harmful form.
A promising new strategy to tackle drug-resistant fungal infections and protect human health and crops.

1/ All articles with eLife begin as a Reviewed Preprint.
We created them to improve speed, flexibility and transparency for authors. But how do they achieve that? And how do they compare to traditional publications?
