I love the increased availability of dark ales in cask at this time of year. Altrincham today provides Dunham Porter at Costello's, Blackjack Manchester Stout in the market and Kirkstall Percolator Stout at the Beacon, all in great nick. No time to wander further but a good haul. – at Sale, England

Britain's pubs are a result of Britain's heritage. Allow one to die, and so too will the other. ⏳️

The reality of this “breathing space” for #pubs. This will help: 6-8% of pubs in England 0% of pubs in Wales 0% of pubs in Scotland 0% of pubs in Northern Ireland No cavalry coming for pubs. #Budget2026 has put costs UP for over 95% of UK pubs!! 🤬
Pubs, cafés, restaurants and shops are at the heart of our communities. We’re giving them more breathing space, with 70,000 more retail, hospitality and leisure businesses paying no business rates from April 2027.

Another huge blow in #Budget2026 for #pubs #hospitality & small shops: Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP effectively announced that the Labour Govt will break its manifesto commitment to scrap #businessrates & replace them with a fairer system to level the playing field between high street & online giants 🤬 #BusinessRatesBetrayal

Carlsberg; possibly the worst possible custodian of our brewing heritage.
Cheers @Morrighani for highlighting how Carlsberg-Britvic have destroyed our much loved British brewing heritage.🍻👍👏🤬

For a great many winters, our pubs have kept us warm, and together. Pubs should never be overtaxed or forced into being expensive. They're there to unite and maintain each community within Britain and Ireland. Address: The Craven Arms, Appletreewick, Skipton BD23 6DA

...and the independent pub.
To re-energize our High Streets, we need to support and encourage Independents. The coffee shop, the bakery, the family run restaurant. The corporates have a place, but not the personality, that can bring the High Streets alive.

It’s Monday. And to start this week why not pop down to our pub and have lunch/dinner. Todays weather is perfect for pea + mint soup to start and a pie for main course! 🥧
