When I was a child, my grandmother passed away around 11p.m.
At 8a.m the next morning, my father let me skip school and even bought me McDonald's for breakfast.
Then we went to the bank.
At the drive-through to the bank, he reached into the backseat, pulled out my grandmother's coat, wig and hat, and made me dress up like her so he could withdraw all the money from her bank account.
I don't think I'll ever forget that day.
What's the most traumatic childhood memory you still remember?
THE AVENGERS HAD ENOUGH POWER TO DEFEAT THANOS, BUT THEIR FIGHTING STRATEGY WAS THEIR GREATEST WEAKNESS.
Think about the number of superheroes and extraordinary abilities available during the final battle in Endgame.
Ant-Man could shrink to microscopic size, yet never attempted to exploit that advantage against Thanos.
Doctor Strange could open portals, manipulate dimensions and use powerful spells, yet barely explored those possibilities against him.
Scarlet Witch nearly tore Thanos apart single-handedly, while Captain Marvel physically overpowered him.
With all these abilities, the Avengers still relied heavily on conventional hand-to-hand combat.
Was Thanos really that difficult to defeat, or did the Avengers simply fail to use their powers intelligently?

While setting up story time at the library, an eight-year-old girl approached me and asked, "Have you ever played The Hunger Games?"
I smiled. "Like the movie with Katniss Everdeen?"
"No, silly. It's when we see who cries first from being hungry. I never lose anymore, but my little sister Molly still does."
She pointed toward her sister in the corner, who looked so pale I thought she might faint.
After spending years around children, I knew something was terribly wrong. But I needed to keep my voice light and casual.
"What kind of game is it?" I asked.
She laughed and started teasing me. "How do you not know what it is? The rules are simple. Just don't eat for as long as possible. My record is three days. Molly's not very good yet, though."
She pointed at her sister again.
"She's only five, so she's weaker than me."
She said it with the pride of a child showing off a soccer trophy.
I knelt to her level, trying to ignore the adrenaline pumping through my body.
"When was the last time you ate?" I asked softly.
She scrunched up her face as if doing math in her head.
"Um, I think it was Tuesday."
My hands were shaking, but I kept asking questions.
"Has anyone else played this game with you?"
Ava's face lit up.
"Yeah! My brother. He was our foster brother. He was really good at it. He made it nine whole days once. Sometimes I wish I could do that."
Then her expression shifted to something sadder.
"But then he fainted at school, and some people came and took him away. Mom was really mad that he almost ruined everything."

Nothing in modern cinema will ever match the dead silence in the theater watching Thanos reverse time on Vision and hearing Peter Parker say, "Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good".
