FOUND. NOT HOME. — our investigation is now in the hands of US leaders. In Washington, Emile Foundation presented its first humanitarian investigation report. 🧵

Russian forces have begun taking civilians from occupied Oleshky to Russia, apparently disregarding previously announced agreements governing the operation.
The operations are being conducted by the Russian military, without American representatives or teams from either side’s ombudsman office present. Russia’s state news agency TASS is openly filming the operation.
There is no indication that civilians are being given a choice of where they wish to go. No buses or other vehicles designated to transport evacuees to Ukrainian-controlled territory are visible.
The operation raises serious concerns that Russia is once again exploiting a humanitarian evacuation to forcibly transfer Ukrainian civilians.
The parallels with the evacuation of Mariupol’s Azovstal steel plant are disturbing. Once again, Moscow appears to be disregarding agreed procedures while controlling the fate of Ukrainian civilians.

Please read this article by @ZarinaZabrisky; a true hero whose quiet, tireless work helped bring Oleshky to the world’s attention. Now, she is sounding a warning we must hear‼️‼️‼️
Forcibly deporting civilians from occupied territory is a war crime. Moscow must not turn this ceasefire into another instrument of repression.
The people of Oleshky must be able to reach safety in Ukrainian-controlled territory, freely and without coercion. Their choices, rights and dignity must be respected.
Thank you, Zarina, for continuing to speak out and stand beside them.
Please read, share and, if you don’t already, follow her‼️

‼️ Urgent: the situation in Oleshky.
The power of social media is real. Whether through X, Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp or Viber, people can speak for themselves and share the truth; even when politicians try to obscure the reality.
This is the message I received this morning from Oleshky:
“Yes, it’s all a staged show. They’re cleaning all the streets, painting the curbs, and sprucing everything up for the cameras. They’re trying to create a pretty picture in the middle of hell.
Meanwhile, the Russian military is demining everything and carrying ammo and supplies to their positions — and soon all of that will be flying toward Kherson (((
The number of troops in the city has increased dramatically, there are so many of them...”
Please reshare and let those people speak up!

As attention turns to the Oleshky ceasefire, we must remember the Ukrainian children and adults with profound disabilities abducted by Russia.
@NEWSMAX calls the @emile_fondation ’s humanitarian investigative report “required reading.”👇👇👇

@emile_fondation has identified more than 80% of the missing residents. We prepare case files, support and evacuate relatives, and submit return requests through available channels. Finding someone is only the first step toward bringing them home. 4/6

“It’s about our security. If we lose Ukraine, where are we going to go?”
That was Sally A. Painter’s message at the Jefferson Educational Society’s Global Summit in Erie.

Framing these returns as the reunification of “Russian and Ukrainian children” risks suggesting equivalence. It does not. As Sally warned, this framing “really confused the issue.” Russia’s unlawful deportation and forcible transfer of Ukrainian children must not be obscured.

Why transatlantic unity matters for Ukraine’s children; and our future generations.
This morning, I joined Erie News Now’s “Hello Erie” to explain why Americans and Europeans share a stake in protecting Ukraine’s children.
Around 1.6 million Ukrainian children live under Russian occupation, exposed to indoctrination and militarisation. Children trained to serve Russia’s military could one day be sent to fight Ukraine or threaten @NATO allies.
Their protection is a humanitarian duty and a shared security priority.
Whilst the geopolitical landscape shifts, @emile_fondation keeps speaking to the American people. Ukraine’s children must remain a transatlantic priority.
