HeeHaw Lawsuit Update: A federal lawsuit just laid out, paragraph by paragraph, exactly what the officer who shot HeeHaw is accused of doing. Rockmart, Georgia. Hannah Israel filed suit September 11 against Officer Trenton Ryan Garner and the Cedartown Police Department. The complaint says Garner entered her enclosed pastureland after 10:30pm searching for a missing person who was never found there, with no warrant, no consent, and no exigent circumstance. He encountered HeeHaw, described in the filing as young, small, and tranquil, posing no threat to him, any officer, or the K9 on scene. He shot and killed the donkey anyway. The complaint says officers left HeeHaw's body on the property without telling Israel where to find it. She was only told over the phone that a donkey had been "dispatched." She and a minor child searched the dark pastureland for hours before finding the body themselves. She's suing under the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments for unlawful entry, unreasonable destruction of property, and deprivation of due process, plus punitive damages.
