Trump boasting that the United States will take majority control of 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil isn’t “America First.” It is imperialism, treating another country’s natural resources as the spoils of American power. This is the same dangerous logic used by dictators throughout history, including Hitler: powerful nations claiming the right to dominate weaker countries and seize strategic resources for themselves. Hitler’s expansionism was driven partly by the pursuit of land, food, raw materials and oil.
