Trump probably won Indian-Americans and *definitely* won Indian immigrants in 2024

We actually have voter data! We don’t need a survey. Consider: - Irving, Texas (85% Asian, mostly Indian precinct): 2020 → Biden +31 2024 → Trump +4 - Edison, NJ – Voting District 78 (95% Asian, mostly Indian): 2012 → D+80 2016 → D+66 2020 → D+64 (Biden 82%) 2024 → Trump +30 (65% Trump) Indian plurality precincts went from Biden +42 to Harris +26. That trend is good and it doesn’t even consider that Indians disproportionately live in Blue states (like CA) at 1.3x-1.4x. 55% of Indians live in Harris won states whereas only 42% of the population lives in those states. CA Indian precincts also appeared to be less elastic compared to their Texas and NJ counterparts.

This historic deal is a huge win for the United States and the American people. Thanks to President Trump’s vision and leadership, this historic agreement permanently guarantees U.S. security interests in the Arctic at zero cost to the U.S. taxpayer. Greenland will forever be part of the strategic defense area of North America and exclude any adversary from it and the surrounding area. This deal permanently and completely addresses our national security concerns in Greenland.
BREAKING NEWS: I am pleased to announce that the United States of America has entered into an Agreement with The Kingdom of Denmark, and Greenland, that gives the United States permanent control over security, and all other needs, in Greenland, completely addressing ALL of our many U.S. concerns. There will be NO COST to the United States! At my direction, we worked with representatives of Denmark and Greenland to guarantee that the United States will FOREVER have the complete ability to do what is necessary in Greenland in order to secure and defend the security of Greenland, and the United States of America. Additionally, from now on, no U.S. adversary can EVER have a base in Greenland, have a military presence in Greenland, or make sensitive investments in Greenland, without our express written approval. For over 100 years, Presidents have known the strategic importance of Greenland, but NONE of them were able to do anything about it. I am proud to be the President that permanently and conclusively addressed this very important situation. This is an “Infinite Life” Agreement, there is no end! We are very honored and proud of what has just taken place, and everything agreed to today will be cherished by the American People. We will immediately begin the process of developing a large Military presence in the appropriate part of Greenland, of which there are many. We will work with the people of Greenland in its development and construction. This solution is a great one for the United States of America, Denmark, Greenland, and all of our Allies. We look forward to working with the wonderful people of Denmark and Greenland toward a magnificent future with respect to this large, and highly strategic, parcel of land. We will be very protective of it! This is a dream come true for the United States of America, one that is very important, historic, and special. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

When Lindsey Graham was here in Ukraine, he would always talk about how important it was not to ease pressure on Russia, to strengthen sanctions and seek a path to peace. In particular, in those capitals that choose to buy Russian oil, provide financial services to Russia, and allow Russian companies linked to Putin and the war to engage in normal business relations in other countries. Senator Graham never doubted for a second that America has enough strength to stand up to dictators and achieve results if it acts THE RIGHT WAY. I thank President Trump @POTUS for signing this critically important legislation. I thank all the senators and members of the House of Representatives who supported it. The best way to honor Lindsey’s memory will be to implement the provisions of this law fully and swiftly. And the best reward for everyone helping us put pressure on Russia to end its war will be peace. Peace – and an end to all the problems and challenges this war has brought. Peace comes through strength. Calm comes through security. And the best guarantee of security is resolve. I thank everyone who resolutely defends life! I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine! America, thank you!

Again and again, when the president needs something to work well, Rubio is drafted to lead it. Especially w/ intensified Russian aggression in NATO nations, can’t mess this up.
SCOOP: Eight senators are pressing Secretary Rubio to ensure State is involved in the Pentagon’s Europe force posture review, warning U.S. ambassadors have been left out of key consultations with allies.

If Hasan Piker thinks the US government is more evil than al-Qaeda simply because it has caused more deaths in absolute terms, wait until he finds out about his friends the Chinese government...
👀 NEW: @hasanthehun joins @alexthomp on the Season 3 premiere of The Axios Show in what Piker called "the most contentious interview" he's done. Piker claims that "pound for pound," America conducts more terror around the world than al-Qaeda.

Seems like as good of a time as any to remind people that "Heritage American" is a bullshit, made-up term and that a person made a citizen yesterday is every bit as much of a citizen and an American as I am, or my wife's family (which stretches back at least into the 1600s).

It is incredibly alarming that @NHL and @Capitals have allowed Alexander Ovechkin to appear in a campaign advertisement supporting the party of war criminal Putin. American hockey fans deserve better leadership from their star players!

Rumors are flying in China over Xi Jinping begin taken ill during his visit to India. They include claims that he suffered a minor illness to experiencing a stroke worsened by by failure to treat early. Some wild claims say rival group armies are mobilizing for civil war. No confirmation but Treasury Sec Bessent is meeting with Chinese counterparts today and we’ll see if the summit for Sept. 24 is still on

Civilization-wise the US is Athens (open & free politically, innovative, deep alliances, technologically dynamic) and China is Sparta (closed politically, centralized, authoritarian) — but the US is more Sparta i.e. established power, while China is more Athens i.e. rising power.

Everyone knows OpenAI and Anthropic. But if you are into AI, you should pay attention to SSI. OpenAI and Anthropic are like the Yankees and Dodgers (win with top resources) whereas SSI is like the Rays (small, could win with much less resources, but great leadership/innovation)

4 days ago the WSJ breaks an article that China supplied satellite imagery to Iran that ended up killing Americans. 3 days ago it comes out a Chinese satellite broke up in orbit. Yesterday the US announces it has weapons in space. Heckuva coincidence I’d say…

China preparing for war
In the event of a conflict, Beijing wants to be able to quickly switch to a war economy. A new law will allow the government to access all companies based in China for this purpose, including, explicitly, foreign companies and their subsidiaries. The new rules will take effect on October 1, 2026. In the future, companies will be required to provide the authorities with comprehensive information about their capacities even in peacetime. In the event of an emergency, according to Article 2, this is intended to “ensure a rapid transition from a state of peace to a state of war and to convert economic and social strength into defensive strength”. This conversion encompasses a wide range of resources: production facilities, equipment and intellectual property, such as data and software, could be seized. The law no longer refers solely to confiscation but, for the first time, also to expropriation. It also enshrines the possibility of shifting production to goods that can be used for military purposes. Another striking change is the wording stating that China intends to use the new regulations to respond to its “development interests”. The term appears in the law for the first time and seems deliberately vague. Since the Chinese security narrative typically encompasses economic security, access to technology, raw materials and supply chains, this expansion could also include sanctions, export controls or a blockade directed against China. However, the new law does not affect only businesses. In the event of a mobilization, male citizens between the ages of 18 and 60 and female citizens between the ages of 18 and 55 are required to perform national defense service. The law thus reflects lessons learned from Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. It demonstrates Beijing’s efforts to streamline the mechanisms and structures of military mobilization and to improve its ability to quickly allocate and mobilize the necessary resources and manpower in the event of potential conflicts.

astonishing blogpost from Shengyu Liu (刘胜与, also known as interestingLSY/intlsy), kernel engineer at DeepSeek. The first part is his personal struggle with the fact that his work is about to render his beloved craft obsolete. The second is… well. let's just say we agree.

To be clear we practically started open source movement at Sun and we backed Gitlab which is much more open than GitHub. Our @OpenAI investment has nothing to do with my view. I am strictly focused on the not trustable China administration. Strong AI in Chinese hands is much more dangerous than strong AI.
Vinod and I have small differences on the issue of open vs closed I prefer OPEN (as we believed in and backed Hugging Face) + he prefers CLOSED (as he believed in and backed OpenAI) ON CHINA we have BIG AGREEMENT. Don't slow down. Go faster + set high accountability.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Sun did not "practically start" the open source movement. The free software movement began with Richard Stallman's GNU project in 1983; "open source" was coined in 1998. Sun contributed later (e.g., OpenOffice in 2000, Java in 2006). opensource.org/history/ britannica.com/money/Sun-Micr… en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_Op… britannica.com/topic/open-sou… x.com/josephjacks_/s…
