Agreed. A dollar of cap space is worth the same in every market. Florida's tax break belongs to the player, not the team. What surprises me is how nobody talks about the RCA. Canadian teams can put part of a player's salary into a Retirement Compensation Arrangement. Once he retires outside Canada, he withdraws it at roughly 25%. Net result: the same tax as "no tax" Florida, sometimes less. And far less than New York, Massachusetts or California. But sure, keep calling Canada a tax nightmare. #WeAreGoldStar!

The flaw in equating Kucherov’s Florida after-tax earnings to a $20M Montreal salary is that it treats Florida’s tax advantage as justification for Tampa paying him less. That tax advantage is a player benefit and not a discount Tampa is entitled to capture.

Burke would’ve traded Knies and a 1st for Darnell Nurse.

"I would not have done trade." Brian Burke gives his assessment of the Maple Leafs trading Matthew Knies for Kirill Marchenko and explains why he wouldn't have made the same move, despite Marchenko's strong start in Toronto. Presented by Coca Cola

Leafs Game 16/84 thoughts… - McKenna displayed killer instinct - Matthews terrorized all gm - nice having Tanev return from the dead - Joshua emerged from shadows - 4th line was vicious - Stolarz gave Vancouver nightmares - a hauntingly good road trip finale - Happy Halloween

Is it the Leafs players or Hiller that prefer to sit back w the lead? This is annoying.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I like these Leafs jerseys.

First look at the Toronto Maple Leafs Hometown Remix jersey, featuring a unique leaf vein pattern in the logo and numbers. Thoughts? #Leafs #PassionNeverSleeps #HometownRemix

This smells like a Gary Leeman/ Al Iafrate scenario.

The Leafs don’t even think about the Vancouver media let alone care about them.

#Leafs aren't making Whitehorse's Gavin McKenna available today. Closest market to home for #1 overall. Trains here in offseason. Coming off a two-goal (three-point) game. Chance to promote a new #NHL star. But too scared of the big, bad Vancouver media. 🤣

Leafs Game 15/84 thoughts… - sleepless in Seattle - Bobrovsky playing his age - bad fwd support on pinches - McKenna a PP mercenary - 3rd line is unplayable - Nylander tried to do too much - too many careless penalties again - skid must stop Saturday night.

The Leafs should’ve capitalized on OEL’s trade value last season.
