TRACY: my husband and I retire in 128 days. We have a net worth between $2.9 and $3.1 million. Home is paid off. We're trying to figure out when to start drawing Social Security.
DAVE RAMSEY: do you need Social Security to live on?
TRACY: no.
DAVE RAMSEY: then it's almost irrelevant to your situation.
TRACY: so when do we take it?
DAVE RAMSEY: early. As soon as you're eligible.
TRACY: why not wait for the higher benefit?
DAVE RAMSEY: because Social Security is a negative rate of return investment. The longer you wait the longer you're betting you'll live long enough to break even. Take it early and invest it since you don't need it to survive.
TRACY: that makes sense.
DAVE RAMSEY: you and your husband have done something most people never do. You won. The Social Security question is the least interesting thing about your retirement.
TRACY: what's the most interesting?
DAVE RAMSEY: what does the next chapter actually look like. Not financially. Personally. What does a day feel like when there's nowhere you have to be.
TRACY: we haven't really talked about that yet.
DAVE RAMSEY: start. 128 days is closer than it sounds.
$3 million net worth. Paid off home. 128 days from retirement.
And the most important conversation they haven't had yet has nothing to do with money.
What do you do with a life that finally belongs entirely to you.
That's the question worth planning for.
JAMIE: I'm on Baby Step 2. Single mom. Two kids. I bring home $5,000 a month as a nurse. My rent is $2,300. Half my income. I can't make a dent in my debt.
DAVE RAMSEY: stop the 401k contributions first. That frees up some cash. But Jamie the rent is the real problem. You cannot afford to live where you are.
JAMIE: I know. But their dad has them every other weekend. If I move it becomes an issue.
GEORGE KAMEL: how much child support do you receive?
JAMIE: $50 a month.
DAVE RAMSEY: $50.
JAMIE: yes.
DAVE RAMSEY: he doesn't get a lot of say for $50. What does he make?
JAMIE: probably $120,000 to $130,000 a year.
DAVE RAMSEY: so he makes $130,000 and sends $50 a month for two kids. That is not child support. That is an insult.
JAMIE: I have $40,000 saved. Should I use it for a lawyer to fight for the right to move or put it toward debt?
DAVE RAMSEY: sit down with him first. Tell him calmly. I cannot afford to live here. I am moving. You can start paying real child support and I'll stay nearby. Or I will spend every dollar of this $40,000 making sure a judge sees what $50 a month looks like from a man making $130,000.
GEORGE KAMEL: and Jamie even if you paid off all your debt tomorrow you'd still be pinched. The rent is too high as a percentage of your income regardless of the debt.
DAVE RAMSEY: the math is screaming. Something has to change.
A nurse making $85,000 a year.
Two kids.
$2,300 rent.
$50 a month in child support from a man making $130,000.
She's not struggling because of bad decisions.
She's struggling because one person decided $50 was enough for his own children.
It isn't.
And the $40,000 she saved while doing it all alone says more about her character than his $50 ever could about his.

Joe Rogan explains to Theo Von why he says the Kamala Harris interview never happened.
Joe Rogan: I don't know anybody who wasn't willing to talk to Kamala Harris. I tried a bunch of times, and they pretended I made it difficult. That's a lie. They also said they came down and checked out the studio. They didn't. Trump's Secret Service people came and scanned the whole place. Nobody from her organization was ever here.
Joe: I was making it as easy as possible. The one day she offered, I was already booked with him. I said I'd do hers anyway: she had a speech in Houston, and I told them I'd do a podcast at midnight when she was done, or the next day. I was going to release both at the same time. She wasn't willing.
Joe: They gave me a list of things she didn't want to talk about. I said fine. I'll ask about cooking. I just want to sit across from you and find out who you are.
Joe: They wanted staff in the room, and they wanted to know if it would be edited. I said no way. People have to find out who you really are. That feels scary, because there's no get-out-of-jail-free card. But you want to be president. It's supposed to be scary.
Theo Von: How much did Trump's run of podcasts move the needle?
Joe: I think it did a lot. You got to see a human being instead of a cartoon.
One interview that never happened, and two versions of why.
sorry y’all
Theo Von gets Joe Rogan with a "deaf Jack Russell," exploding bees and a gas station's "fresh" pizza.
Theo Von: I talked to your buddy Eddie Bravo. That guy's out there. He's like a deaf Jack Russell.
Joe Rogan: A deaf Jack Russell?
Theo: You ever been around one of those dogs? You open the car and next thing you know they're gone. How's he deaf? Because once he goes, you can't get him back. You're sitting there honking the horn.
Joe: I do know what you're talking about.
Theo: Bees are amazing. They're dying from the heat. They're evaporating. They finish and their whole body blows up.
Joe: Is that real? Bring it up, Jamie.
Jamie: At temperatures over 107 degrees Fahrenheit, it's estimated that half of male honeybees will die this way within six hours.
Joe: I thought you were making it up.
Theo: One time my buddy Scott and I did LSD as kids, and we went to Waffle House because it was open. That's the downside of any place that stays open all night. People on drugs come in. My buddy starts laughing so hard he's convulsing, and the waiter starts doing the Heimlich on him. He wasn't choking. He was just losing it, so geeked up on LSD.
Joe: He's not even choking.
Theo: I couldn't speak. I was laughing so hard.
Joe: Did he figure it out?
Theo: I think I disappeared and woke up in the sixth grade.
Theo: Then I'm at a gas station the other day, and the manager comes out. Nice guy, says he's a fan. He says, "We've got fresh baked bread inside, fresh baked pizzas, we bake everything in house." And I'd just been inside. There's nothing fresh in there. Nothing in there ever even knew an animal or a garden. Zero percent chance, bro.
He'd already been inside, and nothing in that gas station had ever met a garden.

Sad news out of Hollywood today. Sir Patrick Stewart has passed away at the age of 86.
Long before he took command of the USS Enterprise, Stewart was a Shakespearean actor from Yorkshire, England. He spent 14 years with the Royal Shakespeare Company before accepting a role in a science fiction television series in 1987 that would make him a household name.
That series was Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Captain Jean-Luc Picard would become one of the most recognizable characters in television history.
A whole new generation would come to know him as Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men films, beginning in 2000. His friendship with fellow actor Ian McKellen, who played Magneto, became nearly as famous as their on-screen rivalry.
And if you watched American Dad!, you've probably laughed at Stewart without even realizing it. He provided the voice of CIA Director Avery Bullock, bringing his unmistakable voice and comedic timing to the animated series for more than two decades.
Stewart passed away Wednesday, October 28, at his home in Los Angeles following a battle with Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia. His wife, Sunny Ozell, was by his side.
From the Shakespearean stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, from the X-Men universe to animated comedy, he entertained audiences for more than six decades.
Rest in peace, Sir Patrick Stewart. 1940–2026.
What will you remember him for most?

Joe Rogan shoots an arrow at Elon Musk's Cybertruck, and the arrow loses.
Joe Rogan: How much does the Cybertruck weigh?
Elon Musk: Depending on the configuration, about 6,000 to 7,000 pounds. It's a heavy truck, like a Ford F-250.
Joe: And the 0 to 60 is still pretty bizarre, right?
Elon: We're aiming to get it below 3 seconds for the beast mode version. There are three demonstrations. One is emptying a Tommy gun into the side of the car, plus a shotgun, a .45 and a 9 mil. No penetrations. It comes that way from the factory.
Joe: Can I try it with an arrow?
Elon: It'll be fine.
Joe: I bet I can get in. I have a 90-pound compound bow with a razor-sharp broadhead. Should we send someone to get it?
Elon: I bet you can't.
Joe: I have some broadheads and an 80-pound bow back there. Let's do it right now.
(They go out and shoot it.)
Joe: It blew the arrow apart. Look at the tip of the broadhead. It flattened.
Elon: We shot an arrow into it and it barely scratched it. Probably moving 275 feet a second.
Joe: Very impressive.
Elon: Normal car doors are very thin mild steel. If you shoot a regular truck, the bullet goes through both doors. You can't hide behind a car door like in the movies. In The A-Team they'd hide behind the car door, and that doesn't work. But a Cybertruck...
Elon: Trucks are supposed to be tough, right?
Joe: Is your truck bulletproof?
Elon: Mine's definitely not. If you shot it with a bow, it would go right through.
A truck that stops a Tommy gun, and the arrow broke first.

The ad doesn't tell you anything about cigarettes. It sells a mood, and a movie star was the price tag.

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN HOW WORKING FAMILIES ARE SUPPOSED TO AFFORD THIS?
You want to have a child.
Then you start calculating the numbers.
Childcare: thousands of dollars a month in some areas.
Healthcare: premiums, deductibles, and unexpected bills.
Housing: you need more space.
Groceries: another growing expense.
And if one parent stays home, the household loses an entire income.
So couples delay having children, depend on family for help, or spend years wondering whether they can afford the life they actually want.
Then people ask why birth rates are falling.
MAYBE THE BETTER QUESTION IS WHY BUILDING A FAMILY HAS BECOME SUCH A FINANCIAL DECISION.
