$ICP fam, Cloud Engines are the most bullish thing that ever happened to the Internet Computer.
In this video I tell you exactly why!

Pakistan went looking for a government cloud and kept hitting the same gap.
"When I look at most digital government applications, a key part that is always missing is trust in the transaction."
Estonia had solved it with a provenance layer, so every transaction carries cryptographic proof. Dr. Sohail Munir wanted that from the ground up, alongside a cloud that enforces Pakistan's own data governance standards. Which made a distributed ledger a requirement rather than a preference.

Why Open Cloud (Cloud Engines) could change the game for ICP completely π
Imagine a customer pays $1,000 for a Cloud Engine.
$1,000 USD
β DFINITY buys $1,000 worth of ICP at the spot price
β ICP is sent to the NNS / Cycles Minting Canister
β the ICP is burned β permanently gone
β the corresponding amount of Cycles is minted
Cycles are basically the fuel of the Internet Computer. They pay for compute, storage, memory and network usage. Unlike ICP, Cycles have a stable value and cannot be converted back into ICP.
The resulting Cycles are then split:
80% β Node Providers π»
20% β Protocol fee β π₯ BURNED
And hereβs another interesting part:
The Node Providers donβt receive ICP that they could later dump on the market.
They receive Cycles, and Open Cloud says those Cycles are settled to USD monthly (or can be redeemed continuously).
So the flow is:
Customer pays $1,000 USD
β $1,000 ICP bought on the spot market
β ICP permanently burned
β Cycles minted
β 80% Node Providers / 20% Protocol
β 20% of the Cycles burned
That creates a pretty direct link between real-world cloud usage and ICP burn.
More cloud demand β more ICP bought β more ICP burned.
And the providers get paid in USD, rather than receiving ICP that they could sell back into the market.
Of course, ICP also has inflation through protocol rewards, so the long-term supply effect depends on burn vs. minting.
But the mechanism itself is pretty interesting. π₯

Near will pump first and harder, icp will pump later and eventually swallow many blockchains whole. Itβs only a matter of time. Hold on to your bags, keep a cool head.

π΄ I've been talking about this in recent videos. Countries making new laws, regulations, etc. around cybersercurity, data storage, infrastructure, etc.
They'll all start adopting new standards imo

To strengthen Switzerland's cybersecurity, the government has tasked the defence department with drafting a new federal act regulating digital products, data and infrastructure. The law will be based on the European Cyber Resilience Act. admin.ch/de/newnsb/zX9oNK8tu⦠@vbs_ddps

Today, there's only 1 cloud platform where agents can use digital rails to pay for their private compute: the Internet Computer | ICP
Our latest research paper explores the growing connection between AI and digital assets and explains why broad AI adoption may drive new demand, utility and applications across the digital asset economy. blackrock.com/us/individual/β¦
π¨BlackRock just put into words what a lot of people in crypto have been circling around.
Compute is turning into its own market. AI agents will look for capacity, pick the best option, and pay for it in real time. Once those contracts become standard, compute stops being just a cloud bill and starts looking like an investable asset class.
Thatβs basically the design of the Internet Computer.
Most chains still treat the blockchain as a place for tokens and settlement. Everything else gets outsourced. ICP flipped that. The software itself runs on the network. Backend, frontend, data, identity.
Not βcoming soon.β Already live.
Cycles are the part people underestimate.
You convert ICP into cycles, and those cycles actually pay for compute, storage, and bandwidth. The cost is stable because itβs pegged to XDR. No wild gas spikes. And the app pays for itself, not the user on every click.
Thatβs a small detail until you think about autonomous agents. An agent that has to ask someone to sign a wallet transaction every few seconds is not autonomous.
Agents donβt just use ICP as a payment rail. They can live on it. Persistent canisters. Their own state. Their own fuel. On-chain models already exist. Identity is built in. Connections to Bitcoin and Ethereum are protocol-level, not some fragile wrapper.
The economics are simple once you stop treating ICP like just another coin. People who run nodes get paid in ICP. People who run apps burn cycles. More real usage means more ICP gets converted and consumed. The network pays the people who keep it running. Thatβs the loop.
BlackRock talks about standardized claims on compute becoming a digital asset.
ICP is already that claim, just in a different form. Not a futures contract on someone elseβs data center.
A compute driven utilitytoken tied to a network that actually hosts the software & compute.
A lot of projects are waiting for the machine-native economy to arrive. ICP has been building the place where that economy can run.
If compute really becomes an asset class, something has to be the environment those agents live in. ICP already is. $ICP

Proud that DFINITY continues to support the WebAssembly community and contribute. Team member no 5 was co-inventor, giving us the foresight to build the Internet Computer network around this critical standard that's becoming increasingly pervasive.

One of the most bullish things about internet-computer:native is that the entire token supply is in circulation
No more VCs, presale investors, and early contributors waiting to get their tokens
One it starts running, it'll RUN π€

Only the tip of an iceberg folks π₯ The Internet Computer is the 1st network providing core, mainstream technological utility, not a token database.
The world needs sovereign, tamperproof cloud that turbocharges AI: ICP is the first breakout network since Bitcoin and Ethereum.
π¨YESTERDAY, DFINITY HELD A CALL ABOUT BUILDING DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ENTIRE NATIONS! $ICP
On the call were Pakistan's Digital Authority as well as the UNDP where they spoke on using $FOR sovereign cloud, AI and government apps.
Pakistan is already testing it. The UN wants to help bring the model to more countries.
Very few crypto projects are even aiming at national digital infrastructure!
