France is... Taxing the internet???
Evidently, they wanna tax 5.5 cents per gigabyte and target streaming sites, as well as content delivery networks. That means games that have a download size of 128 GB will cost 7.04 euros per download... and you know 100% those costs are going to be passed on to the consumer/gamer, etc.
An LLM model in the trillion-parameter size will cost over 55 euros against places like Hugging Face if it passes, and these content delivery sites might shut off access to France to avoid the extra costs.
I guess they wanna raise tax revenue to give more money to the rioters so they can calm down??? France already has the highest in terms of government 'welfare' for their populace...

Is there anything I am allowed to do about beliefs that are harmful to me ?
WOW 🚨 Police and councils across the UK have issued "no trick or treat" posters warning that Halloween can upset religious or cultural beliefs
They’re also advising residents Halloween decorations can be harmful to those with different religious beliefs such as Muslims, Jehovah's Witnesses and more
Leicestershire Police advised that some residents may skip Halloween because they are “observing religious or cultural beliefs that do not include Hallowe’en.” They also suggested avoiding houses that display the posters and homes with no decorations and pumpkins.
Swale Borough Council with Kent Police referenced households that may not take part for “religious reasons,” plus vulnerability or low income
Buckinghamshire Council noted some people may not want to be disturbed because they are “fighting demons of their own.
The Metropolitan Police and other forces described Halloween as potentially a “stressful” or “fearful” time for some people.
Multiple forces and councils provided printable “No Trick or Treat” posters for any household that doesn’t want visitors. Some also advised limiting egg and flour sales to reduce “tricks”

GOG wants to bring physical PC games back. The idea is to let players buy boxed versions of games directly from their GOG library and have them delivered to their homes.
“We need to think about logistics. We need to think about storage,”
The company would also need approval from publishers to produce and sell physical copies.
GOG has been discussing the idea for years, but there are still plenty of challenges to overcome.
“I really hope that at some point we will be able to do it,”

Four months ago today, Sony announced their predatory plan to end physical media🚀
Here’s a reminder of the dangers of a digital-only future, which gullible fan boys and paid sock puppet-media conveniently overlooks:
❌No game ownership
❌No preservation
❌No competition > high prices
❌Regional & dynamic pricing > high prices
❌No refund if a game is removed from PSN
❌Reliance on Sony’s bad customer support
❌Region locked code-in-box games
❌Total reliance on networks/internet
❌64% of the world has no PSN > no games
❌If account is lost > all your games are lost
❌If you move to another country, there is no way to change regions > need to repurchase all your games, per Sony’s terms
👉You aren’t responsible for the profitability of studios and publishers.
👉You won’t owe studios whose games you don’t like any money
👉You shouldn’t put the benefits of studio or publisher above your own best interest, because they are not your friends, they are a business and they’ve emphasized clearly how self-serving they all are
So save us the white-knighting for corporations and don’t let gaming being ruined more than it already has been.

Steam's automated responses deny refunds for redeemed gifts until the recipient approves removal. For unauthorized purchases via a hacked account, use the dedicated "I have charges from Steam that I didn’t make" support ticket after recovering/securing the account.

We hope all the children & their super siblings have a brilliant time trick or treating this weekend. We're also thinking of the children who aren't well enough to go out this year, and of all the beautiful children who are no longer here to enjoy it with us.

If your child is using a platform *explicitly* labeled for teens and up, YOU, the PARENT, are the PROBLEM.
I am SICK of trying to be polite. You do NOT get to force all of us to choke over our rights to privacy because YOU WILLINGLY GIVE YOUR CHILDREN ACCESS TO TEEN RATED APPS.
You cannot be a champion for parental rights while at the same time applauding lawsuits like this.
WHAT IS YOUR CHILD DOING ON SOCIAL MEDIA AT THREE YEARS OLD?????
Parental rights come with parental accountability.
It's your job to protect your children. If you find that it's "too hard" to protect your child online or you simply don't have the time or the will...don't give your child access to the digital world.
That deleted post perfectly encapsulates the attitude I've been talking about. “I'm paid to give my opinion, you're not” isn't some devastating rebuttal. It's an incredibly arrogant way of saying, “My views carry weight because I'm paid to express them, yours don't.”
Being a professional commentator doesn't grant you immunity from criticism. Quite the opposite: if you're going to make a living telling people what you think, you have to accept that they'll have something to say about it.
You recently lamented the growing hostility in your replies, yet turn around and effectively tell your audience that their opinions count for nothing because you're the one getting paid. Perhaps the problem isn't the bots and engagement farmers you're so keen to blame.

Skyblivion is facing legal threats from a former volunteer over the use of code they contributed to the project.
The team says the dispute started after the volunteer left and objected to devs decompiling parts of their work to fix bugs.
The situation escalated into legal threats, including demands for the real names and home addresses of team leaders.
“We had zero interest in holding onto friction or fighting a former team member,” the developers said.
Skyblivion claims it has since removed the volunteer’s code and rebuilt the affected systems from scratch.
The team has also asked fans not to turn the situation into a witch-hunt
So, the French socialists, and Parliament members just voted a tax, that they don’t understand, which would cost VideoLAN more than 1 million euro per year.
They are probably the most clueless politician on Earth? And they claim they want technological sovereignty…

Streaming Killed The TV Star and THIS IS WHY!
Paramount + Wrecked Star Trek
Disney + Destroyed Star Wars
Now Amazon is "NEW"ifying Stargate
WHY?
Because They Already Have you! That's right, it's a simple math equation. Legacy Franchise fans are already subscribed to their platforms and don't need to "Re-Capture" you.
Have you been binge watching Star Trek TNG or DS9? Putting on Empire Strikes Back on a random Wednesday? Putting Stargate SG1 and Atlantis on rinse and repeat all day? Well, the streamers know it. And that's why they aren't making TV shows for you.
Here is the Math.
Let's say there are 10 Million Stargate fans around the world. There are a lot more, but this number is easy for the example. Streamers believe that most of those 10 Million fans are already subscribed to their platform watching the older programs they love. IF they make a new STARGATE show targeting that demographic, perhaps they bring in another 100,000 curious new long-time fans who weren't subscribed.
BUT, if they targeted a younger audience, they could bring in perhaps 1 million new "curious" subscribers who have heard of the Brand Name. Sure, the long time fans may not like it, but they won't stop subscribing to watch their old shows. And they have made it known that old fans will likely give in and watch it anyway or hate watch it, which makes the studio the same amount of money regardless. So by that math and thinking, you can see why studios are doing this.
10 Million old fans + 100,000 new old fans = an increase of 1% subscribers
10 Million old fans +1 Million new fans = an increase of 10% subscribers
They simply make more money this way. And they believe they are paving the road for a new generation of paying subscribers. Forget the fact that most of these young people are watching off their parents subscriptions, the streamers believe they are the audience of the future.
So what can you do to let streamers know you aren't okay with this? Break out your hard media when you want to watch your legacy shows and when you unsubscribe from their platforms, make sure you tell them why. Your new show was not made with old fans in mind and I am not going to keep paying you just to watch the shows I love!

Just got a phishing email that Gmail authenticated as Google. DKIM/DMARC passed. I can see a lot of people falling for this one, since it plays to the idea that your account has already been compromised.
Scammer puts the scam in an app-password name, triggers a real Google alert, then forwards the alert email to your email address.
How this attack works, and why it’s convincing:
1. The trick: The attacker puts the threatening text and shortened URL into an app password’s customizable name on another account. Google incorporates that text into a real security notification and signs the email.
2. The delivery: That notification is forwarded through another mailbox to the victim. In this message, Gmail still recorded passing Google DKIM and DMARC authentication.
3. What makes it convincing: The Google sender, signature, branding, and “Check activity” button are legitimate. The suspected attacker-supplied text appears inside the same trusted-looking template, using a deadline to push you toward its separate link.
4. The giveaway: Both the notification and its genuine Google button refer to someone else’s account. The “permanent access after 24 hours” claim is false; app passwords can be revoked.
Be careful out there folks!
