wonder if claude / chatgpt or any of the topslop merchants can make something as detailed as this. there is a level of care and detail and thought here only cracked animators / motion graphics wizards can do.

Each clip has a hook
”an artist with zero skills” aka @antrofrog_ emerged in the last 40 days across socials, this video alone has now done somewhere around 200M views in 36h across platforms. created by Antrogfrog using @midjourney and @krea_ai it is an absolute masterpiece in storytelling for short form. Each clip has a hook, and build suspense and release, stacking on each other while all of them stay true to the premise. a british gentleman in New York. each clip is perfect in length, music most likely drove the story, and the entire short ends with a morale. No need for gentlemen to stand in lines. You don’t need to be an asshole to skip lines, just do good. be good. This is also not a one hit wonder on a specific platform, this video goes viral anywhere it’s posted, by antrofrog or people just downloading and re-uploading. Within 5 hours he posted 2 separate videos on Instagram using this character and the second video sits at 62M views and counting. this shows that while barrier to entry is lower than ever, true skills in storytelling and delivery still is the biggest moat. we might call it taste, because it sure ain’t luck. A secondary outcome is that on Instagram Antrofrog now has 325k followers and the basics to continue to do what ever art they fancy doing. what are you waiting for? in Antros own words: — Just use AI

i’ve been using something called Buttercut from github for almost a year and paired with computer vision with 6 Astra it’s removed a considerable amount of busywork when editing with Final Cut Pro. for example: for a podcast i edit i had an hour long talking head 16:9 video where the guesr would sometimes wildly move from edge to edge and i needed that rectangular video to fit within a square frame. i asked Astra to manually key frame this talking head along the x-axis so that it would always stay within the square frame and it did it for me in like 10-15 minutes. i checked several times and it did it pretty much PERFECTLY! the type of mundane busywork editors are faced with are considerable and i’d like to say that i am very very PRO-AI doing this kind of stuff so that i can get the creative part of the edit (arranging of sound bites , pacing, music selection, scene transitions, etc etc). rant continues tomorrow.
If you are a video editor and hoping to leverage some AI in your work, you really don’t need to switch just because of MCP support. I’m still primarily in Final Cut Pro and Astra and Opus have no problem ripping around my timeline, helping me out. I’m sure an MCP will come soon, and it’s not worth switching platforms over.

“You can’t copy someone’s stars aligning. You gotta align your own stars.”
SOME people take the wrong lesson from this. IMO. Led by the money aspect. Desperately asking themselves “How do I copy his path?” You can’t copy someone’s stars aligning. You gotta align your own stars. The irony is that he could sell a course that would likely gross more than his next budget. The success stories arising from it would likely be zero. Despite following every step religiously. You can’t account for luck. Which is literally second by second decisions. That said, good for him. Earned it. I should watch it. 😂 One guy’s opinion… 😘

When it comes to the AI Video Editing conversation with Claude taking over Adobe and DaVinci I think it’s actually very simple for people to just tell the truth and stop hiding behind emotional and moral arguments… That ultimately are a costume for job security or artistic preference. 80% of formats can be handled by this workflow and should be. There are plenty of genres of content there the “human” part or craft part has almost NOTHING to do with the edit are all done in camera and in front of the camera and are either personality driven or fully driven by the content itself. News videos are mechanical, not necessarily the most fun thing in the world to edit and don’t have novelty if you’re actually delivering news. They are driven by tight deadlines and non artistic edits and are more listened to than watch. The same for podcast interviews and podcasts clips. This work is basically just a slog and not something people wake up passionate r edit. If anything they are passionate to film it instead and the editing just gets in the way. I think most people would agree to that. Yes, someone could make it artsy but that’s not really the point. I think everyone can also concede that for smaller channels doing personal content that hiring an editor and also working on the edits yourself is not necessarily in the budget for MOST small channels that barely make money or can be monetized. If people can’t look at the current economy and admit that, I think we are talking past each other and have to go back to what “objectively means” when it concerns the majority. For most of those folks this will not only edit faster than them, but better and their time is better spent being good on camera, scriptwriting and putting the energy into their ideas, and any money they make back into their bills or the content itself in terms of any materials or production. The best example of this is DIY content, makeup tutorials and get ready with me content and unboxing or haul videos. Those videos are not driven by the edit or by editing based storytelling. It’s driven by personality, product and the process being shown. The marker for those videos isn’t looking to the edit as the substance. And for the creators in those niches you have to concede the budget is in the materials. Here are the genres AI Video Editing can’t touch and shouldn’t touch unless you just want the rough cut out of the way… (pauses and silences and multicam): - Pure Scripted Entertainment Content - Video Essays and Narrative Content - Cinematic Vlogs and Storytelling - Comedy and Sketches - Science Communicator Videos - Social Experiments and Pranks - Gaming Content - Storytelling and Spectacle Videos - Music Videos and Parody And here is the truth, for those of you who are video editors, that’s the content you enjoy editing anyway. You didn’t get into editing to edit B2B talking head content or Get Ready with Me Videos. You didn’t get into video editing excited to edit another political pundit interview where you have to sit there and do multi-can and audio clean up. You don’t get excited and feel the need to stamp your “craft” on a top 10 listicle video about free software… The “cool” and “fun” stuff you want to edit by hand is exactly the thing that should be edited by hand by a human. And AI doesn’t do a good job with it as things stand and in the near future of the next 5 years I don’t think it will be able to do more than help tweak with some of these genres or do the mechanical parts of them. Nobody is saying you can’t feel threatened, but the way to react to a threat to your job is to show up to your job as a professional… not crash out like a child… and concede the facts as the y are even if they point to truths you don’t particularly care for. There are niches of content where video editing is part of the value proposition. And the reality is also that MOST content creators are not your customer. Focus on the ones that are…

So I recently badgered my cinematographer @steveyedlin into making my ideal iPhone still camera app. It shoots RAW, bypasses the iPhone's look processing and instead uses the same image processing we use on our movies. apps.apple.com/app/apple-sto…

Day 22/ T3 Code has a new design 🙏
This was a dumb idea. I have like 5 things I want to drop right now but I feel like I have to slow down and only ship 1 a day. Will you guys forgive me if we do more drops today and (possibly) fewer over the week?

search and rescue. sure.
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.

fun fact, i know billy evans (elizabeth holmes' husband) quite well we were friends in college. he even filled in for a last minute cancellation and went on my bachelor party ski trip we don't chat much these days, have hung out at a few mutual friends' weddings in the past couple of years yes he has always had the shock-factor / self-involved / attention seeking personality, even in college. he'd acknowledge this but he also had a genuinely kind and good natured side that we don't hear much about. trite to say, and i understand why you might not hear me, but he is a good person. he just is the trial changed him. the cruel, brutal, harsh reality of his life predicament changed him. his edges are sharper and he come across as unhinged but imo it's all a defense mechanism developed to protect himself and especially his family the human mind, when cornered, behaves in unpredictable ways the world is curb-stomping him over and over and over and over again, and he has two vulnerable little kids at home and a wife in prison. if you were in his shoes, i promise you you'd behave in ways people would judge you for. i would. i haven't said anything until now but the effect the whole ordeal has had on him gives me sadness. he didn't / doesn't deserve it, despite what you hear i see many ppl taking sick pleasure in watching the trainwreck, schadenfreuding while his wife's choices and prison time cleaves a gash in the family overanalyzing every possible detail that gets revealed with each new story if you've ever been in a deeply difficult personal situation, or had a loved one who has, please just take a beat to empathize with their situation on some level will probably delete this but just had to cathartically put this out in the world
