Today, the Fifth Circuit stayed the preliminary injunction, so that January 1 deadline is back on.
On Dec 3 a US District Court issued a preliminary injunction to block the Corporate Transparency Act & the Beneficial Ownership Information Reports.

The government has filed a motion to stay the preliminary injunction following an appeal to the 5th Circuit. At minimum, they seek that the injunction be limited to the parties to the case, given the fact that other courts have already ruled against imposing similarly requested preliminary injunctions. Late Friday night the Attorney General filed an Emergency Motion to Stay the preliminary injunction enjoining the Corporate Transparency Act in the Texas Top Cop Shop case. In response, the Fifth Circuit ordered Appellees to respond by 12/17 with appellant's reply due by 12/19.
