Establishment Democrats are betrayers. Trump raids a Democratic Congresswoman's house, talks about deporting her - and 39 fake Democrats don't back her. Why? Because they're bigots who serve Israel and want to eliminate any Muslim voices in US politics. No other explanation.
Thread 🧵
Over 170 House Dems sent a letter to AG Blanche condemning Trump's raid on @IlhanMN's home.
Letter available here & in tweets below, you will find who *didn't* sign including Pelosi, Hoyer, Stevens, Scholten, Golden, Moskowitz & dozens more:

In our latest Eurointelligence podcast, our team discusses the multiple shocks to Europe stemming from the rise in the oil price - on the Russia-Ukraine war, on the European car industry, on inflation and interest rates; and energy security.

The reason for the return of diplomacy between Europe and Russia is the change in the geopolitical and geoeconomic environment. With oil at over $100, and France on the brink of a debt crisis, Europe is politically and financially not able to maintain its support for Ukraine at the level needed for Ukraine to resist Russia's advance, let alone push back. At no point during the last five years did western European leaders have a strategy to secure Ukraine's victory. Nor did they have a strategy for peace. It is too early to say what yesterday's call between Støre, Stubb and Putin will accomplish, but we are now entering a different phase.

Corporate greed is Microsoft making $134 billion in profits last year, receiving $19 billion in tax breaks under Trump, paying a lower federal income tax rate than a nurse and getting rid of 60,000 workers.
“Corporations will create jobs if they get tax breaks” is a total scam.

This is crucially important. We need to abandon the current inflation-fighting model where jobs and economic security are on the line.
How we fight inflation doesn't just matter for the economy. It matters for democracy.
If government decisions leave people poorer, more indebted and less secure, we risk deepening the conditions that have emboldened the far-right.

Today at the UN Security Council, China's representative delivered a sharp rebuke of US and European policy toward Iran, declaring that Washington's withdrawal from the JCPOA and subsequent maximum-pressure campaign were the "root cause" of the current nuclear crisis.
He also stated that US-Israeli military strikes on Iran's IAEA-safeguarded nuclear facilities were the "direct cause" of the agency's inability to conduct inspections at those sites.
Beijing further accused Britain, France, and Germany of failing to fulfill their own JCPOA commitments while joining Washington's sanctions campaign.
The Chinese representative described the E3's attempted snapback last year as legally and procedurally flawed, arguing that it had undermined the Security Council's unity and credibility.
The remarks came during today's Security Council meeting following the IAEA Board of Governors' September 9 vote to refer Iran's nuclear safeguards dossier to the Council, despite the US-Israeli attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Russia and China both opposed convening the meeting, arguing that the US and European governments were ignoring critical facts about the crisis, particularly the US withdrawal from the JCPOA and the military attacks on Iran.
The meeting nevertheless proceeded following a procedural vote of 11 in favor, 2 against (Russia and China), and 2 abstentions, with no veto applicable.
China also warned against another round of US military strikes, expressed concern over repeated missed opportunities for diplomacy, and called for an end to the fighting and renewed negotiations.
The central argument from Beijing: The US and European powers cannot disregard their own role in dismantling the nuclear agreement and attacking safeguarded facilities while demanding punitive international action over the resulting nuclear crisis.

this message is essentially correct, however much you dislike the messenger.

The BBC’s Middle East correspondent frames the Israeli elections as Netanyahu against “leftist” and “centrist” figures like Eisenkot, whom she describes as “softly spoken” and “lowkey”.
What she leaves out is that he’s a former general and the architect of the Dahiyeh Doctrine, which calls for disproportionate force and deliberate targeting of civilians and their infrastructure.
In what world is that left wing?

As the Clausewitzian saying goes, war is the continuation of politics by other means.
Which also means that whichever side in a war achieves its political objectives wins the war, even if it lost more materially.
Hard to think of a bigger political win for Iran than the Saudis coming to Tehran with the Turks and Pakistanis to talk regional security.
All the more because the political objective of the US and Israel was a new regional order dictated by them, which Netanyahu described as an order "based on strength" (eng.alzaytouna.net/2026/08/0…)
It's looking like an order based on strength all right, just not theirs 😏
"If our four countries sit together, many of the regions problem can be solved. This trip would be the beginning of a real transformation in the region."
"Despite the American threats, these three major countries came to Iran and talk to us. That shows that the American have no more impact on the world."

Lula's reelection in Brazil is not just a domestic victory. It is the single biggest geopolitical defeat the US empire has suffered in Latin America in decades.
Here is what was actually at stake:
The Resources:
Brazil holds the world's second-largest rare earth reserves — nearly a quarter of the global supply. The US military-industrial complex is desperate for these minerals to break its dependence on China. The Bolsonaro dynasty was ready to hand them over. A US government-linked company already bought Brazil's only active rare earth mine from Bolsonaro-aligned oligarchs for $2.8 billion. They wanted Petrobras privatized next. Lula said no. These are our minerals. We will build our own economy.
Palestine:
Lula lost a finger in a factory at 17. He is the working class. The Bolsonaros are the landlords, the oligarchs, and the cheerleaders of settler colonialism. They waved Israeli flags at their rallies. They held Zoom calls with Netanyahu on stage. They posed with a map of Israel colonizing ALL of historic Palestine — Gaza, the West Bank, the Golan Heights. Lula stands with Palestine and calls the genocide what it is.
The Multipolar World:
Lula co-founded BRICS. He is building parallel financial systems to bypass the weaponized US dollar. He called for a new global reserve currency. He wants Latin America to trade in its own currency, free from Washington's sanctions. The empire cannot tolerate a continent that refuses to pay rent in dollars.
So how did Washington respond to a sovereign democratic choice?
Trump slapped Brazil with 50% tariffs — even though the US has a trade SURPLUS with Brazil. The tariffs were never economic. They were punishment.
Meta censored Lula's accounts and boosted Bolsonaro.
The Bolsonaro campaign hired a US AI company to spread disinformation.
Eduardo Bolsonaro literally called on Trump to send the US military to attack the Brazilian government.
They threw everything at him. Tariffs. Censorship. Disinformation. Coup attempts.
And they still lost.
The American empire tried to enforce the Monroe Doctrine with algorithms, tariffs, and a puppet dynasty. But the Brazilian working class just voted to keep their minerals, defend Palestine, and build a world where Washington doesn't get to decide who eats.
You can tariff the economy. You can censor the candidate. You can beg for a military coup.
But you cannot colonize a people who have already decided they belong to themselves.

What's amazing is how successful mainstream parties in advanced economies are in repackaging these intergenerational transfers from the young to the old as something much more wholesome. They've been so effective that they always get the young to show up to protest in favor of the status quo. And the status quo is clearly very bad for the young.
In Italy is even worse. There is very little welfare state, the vast majority are transfers from the young to the old. This is the reason why at the #festinteconomia I proposed an estate tax on the boomers giornalelavoce.it/news/attua…

Yanukovych says that even if he could turn back time, he still wouldn't sign the EU deal. Look at what Brussels put on the table in 2013.
The EU offered €610 million, on condition that Kiev sign a loan deal with the IMF. "We don't have to be humiliated like this," Yanukovych told Ukrainian TV, adding that the IMF wanted higher taxes and frozen salaries and pensions.
Russia bought about a quarter of Ukraine's exports, and Ukraine's machine-building and aircraft plants worked largely for Russian customers. He warned the deal would wreck whole sectors of the economy.
On November 21, 2013, Kiev put the deal on hold. Less than a month later, Moscow offered $15 billion in loans and cut the gas price by a third.
He was never against closer ties with Europe, he says. He refused to sign a deal that, in his words, betrayed Ukraine's national interests. The Maidan protests began the night he put it on hold, and three months later he was overthrown.

Excellent insights by @SteveKeenEcon on the systemic flaws behind the current crisis in France and across Europe.
His four "heretical" conclusions to end Europe's decline are:
1️⃣ Abolish the Euro and return to national currencies.
2️⃣ Run government deficits to create fiat money.
3️⃣ Use those deficits to fully fund public education and infrastructure.
4️⃣ Restrict private debt—the true trigger of economic collapse.
