Confronting Gatwick’s greed and skulduggery; climate emergency = zero growth in aviation, anywhere. Manage demand with fair taxation, ignore Greta at your peril

Surely someone must call out the aviation industry’s lies. All expansion in aviation is in direct conflict with our ability to hand on a habitable planet. For what? A luxury pursuit for a privileged minority and ‘shareholder value’

You can support this government’s legal obligation to tackle climate change, or you can support airport expansion. You can’t do both. – at South East, England

Yep - fly even more, and spend even more abroad. In terms of excusing planet-frying expansion in aviation, the economy is right up there with ‘Global Britain, ‘000s of local jobs, safety, sustainable, world class mitigation, reducing passenger vehicles and community engagement’

Green flying? Greenwashing. When we're talking about aviation, there's only one way towards a fair and climate-safe mobility system: Green Means Grounded! Let's counter the ✈️ industry's narratives with our own story and #ReframeAviation: reframeaviation.stay-grounde…

The bliss that people have expressed at being reconnected with nature during the lockdown tells me people will not have their quality of life taken away again so lightly; they certainly will not kowtow to the filthy aviation industry and its bent apologists - govt or 'regulator'

The reality is aviation can’t ‘build back better’ - it is diametrically opposed to the survival of the planet. The reason the industry is so vocal and aggressive is that it knows it’s f**ked and it’s going to screw out every last cent.
Well said - Build Back Better #aviation industry

A move that will hasten the destruction of our children’s planet - for journeys that can quite easily made by train. But you ecocidal maniacs just refuse to get it. – at South East, England

Tackling ‘late runners’ should not be the concern of victims on the deck; you can’t fly within certain parameters, you can’t fly. Period. @ICCAN_UK confirms aircraft noise at night costs lives; that is too high a price to pay for subsidised booze ups @GoodLawProject @The_AEF

DfT "is committed to working closely with NATS, the CAA and industry" - but not the public obviously. 'Airspace modernisation' is purely to stuff the coffers of the feral and avaricious aviation industry. PBN is a death sentence that creates and persecutes a new minority
Shapps on modernisation of airspace: DfT "is committed to working closely with NATS, the CAA and industry ...to ensure that this programme is successfully delivered. Covid-19 has delayed some of the work on this programme." Including the DfT's new Airspace Change Organising Group

While @RishiSunak shovels £1m to Branson for a shameless PR exercise to gaslight and greenwash the public. All expansion in aviation is in direct conflict to our duty to hand on a habitable planet. @GoodLawProject @AttenboroughSir

Sadly they never did. Aviation noise has got worse. Quality of life no longer matters as long as corporate thieves get their profits. A great opportunity lost @andyburnham

'Sustainable flying' is an oxymoron; the industry makes an art form out of greenwashing - offsets = BS and SAF = SFA. Giggling av groupies dangling 'guilt free flying' are a big problem; any growth in aviation is in direct conflict with our ability to pass on a habitable planet
United Airlines promises sustainable flying, but experts aren’t convinced and it’s not difficult to see why after reading this latest article on the subject. theguardian.com/environment/…

And did you know that the aviation industry is handed a tax exemption worth around £8-10billion each year because there’s no vat on aviation fuel or tickets Would be better if we started charging airlines tax rather than expanding airports #FairTax

Absolutely John, it makes you realise that ‘progress’ has left us poorer in so many ways. Let’s hope that we are a kinder society post-pandemic with greater respect for each other and the environment. Greed is not good Gordon.
The skies are wonderfully clear and the streets silent. The birds seem to be enjoying it. I know I am.

One of the ugliest things about the pandemic has been the heads of airlines and airports pleading/badgering/threatening to be allowed to get back about their business of stuffing their greedy chops and spreading new variants of the disease - 'reuniting families'? Nah just cash.

Please don’t use any runways overnight; we are told that people will lose their lives due to global warming and that aviation is the fastest growing source of GHG. You take people on subsidised booze ups and bring in Amazon tat; maybe it’s time to take climate change seriously

I would beg to disagree with ICCAN. It is far more than that. We have consistently been told by airports, airlines, CAA, NATS & others that nothing has changed since 2014. That is quite simply untrue. Not just a question of inconsistency. We have consistently been lied to.
