The future of transport is electric and autonomous. Amazing how many people will disagree with this.

Lots of headlines written about how EV demand is faltering. Is it? Global EV sales are on pace for a record year. Heading for around 14 million sold, up 36%. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

He also built out the world's largest car company during a decade in which everyone else was doing software, and also as a side thing built a company that's changed the economics of rocketry. Probably also has some good business and management instincts beyond the X thing.
The only business instinct Elon Musk's ever had in 30 years is "what if we called it... (sly grin, crossing arms)... X." He's done it at his payments company and car company and rocket ship company and social media app and with his own human child. No one has ever liked it.

If the airplane was invented today, some group of people would ask you if you’ve never heard of a train. If you pointed out to them transatlantic/pacific opportunities they’d tell you you’ve invented a boat.

Toyota is LOSING market share at a dizzying pace. Customers are finally realizing that maybe it isn't worth it to wait 9-12 months for a marked-up Toyota Sienna. Management needs to wake up. Fast 👇

Internal combustion vehicle sales peaked in 2017. They are down nearly 20% from that peak, and have no real route back. My latest: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Cumulative EV sales have crossed a trillion dollars. More than 50% of that was in the last 18 months. Long product cycles means many established automakers are about to be caught flat footed. My latest: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

A major reason for the slower adoption of EVs is that car dealers are making less money from EVs and therefore have more incentive to sell ICE vehicles. I recommend reading @forwardcap's excellent latest article on how legacy OEMs view EVs. autoinsights.substack.com/p/…
