🚨 I’m on the #EconJobMarket! My JMP, “Mind the Gap: Disagreement and Credible Monetary Policy”, asks a simple question: what happens to monetary policy transmission when the Fed and financial markets disagree on the future path of rates? A JMP thread 🧵 (1/10)

“I don’t want to be just sitting there for two years vetoing everything.” President Donald Trump picked up a call from @DashaBurns on POLITICO Elections Live and talked to us about the blue wave and how he’s willing to work with incoming congressional Democrats.  Watch live now: politi.co/4AgCofb

I just presented a fiscal shocks paper and Ukraine is one of the events our approach identifies through cross-sectional stock-price variation. Well... I couldn't say #SlavaUkraini in the middle of a scientific talk, but I hope the message got through.

I would urge anyone interested in transatlantic relations to listen.
At the @WarsawForum, I asked Democratic Congressman Jim Himes what would change and what would remain the same in US-Europe relations with a new Democratic Administration? Himes provided a pretty clear and realistic overview. #WSF2026

One of the crucial problems of public debate in Italy is that smart, educated people I know wouldn't recognize (at least openly) that they stand with Meloni about Ukraine, *against* the shameful populist positions of the opposition.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni: “Supporting Ukraine is not an alternative to peace. It is what makes peace possible in the first place. For if an aggressor can work towards their opponent’s capitulation, why should they negotiate? If Ukraine were to stop defending itself tomorrow—as many hope and suggest—we would not have peace. We would be discussing the occupation of a European state and the return of a Soviet-style imperialism—the kind Europe suffered under for half a century.”

🥂 Cheers to Nobel laureate Michael Woodford! Surrounded by family members, friends, students, President Jennifer L. Mnookin and University colleagues, as well as well-wishers, including fellow Nobel laureates Joseph Stiglitz and Martin Chalfie, Woodford had an important group to thank. “A number of students of mine are here,” Woodford said with a smile. “A lot of what I have done has only been possible thanks to my students, because it was hard for me to work these things out except by trying to explain them to people and having students who are willing to put up with that. It is essential to the intellectual process, at least in my case. I've been gratified that many went on to have distinguished careers and I hope I have some responsibility for that, but, really, I'm grateful just to have had them as students. That's really been essential to me.” Read more: news.columbia.edu/news/toast… 📷 Diane Bondareff

Just moved to #DC and got busted by these 25 mph cameras everywhere. Everyone I talk to seems a terrified of driving for the same reason. So I asked Claude to help me see the cameras around me and started tinkering... realized it could help others too. → famodeo.github.io/dc-traffic…

It pulls DDOT's data by itself every month: every speed, red-light and stop-sign camera, where it points, how often it fines. Know your surroundings, slow down, save some ticket money... everyone benefits. Cheers

Zero.

Stretching it.
