Friends, in just two days, Christians were murdered on two continents. On Friday, gunmen opened fire on a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan, and killed nine people. On Saturday, armed men attacked Orthodox churches and homes in Oromia, Ethiopia, and killed more than forty. These are not statistics. They are our brothers and sisters, members of the mystical Body of Christ. When Saul set out to destroy the Church, the risen Jesus asked him, “Why are you persecuting me?” The Lord is still being persecuted in these victims of anti-Christian violence. Christianity is by far the most persecuted religion in the world today. Those of us who worship in comfort have to ask what the deaths of these martyrs demand of us. At the very least, they demand that we pray for them, learn their names, press our leaders to act, and refuse to look away. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.

Pope Leo XIV’s doctors have confirmed that the tumor removed on October 13 was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized. Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said on Wednesday evening that a subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that “no further treatment is necessary.”

Some, it seems, would do well to ask themselves whether they have allowed themselves to worship the Church instead of Christ himself. What the Church does and asks us to do is very important...but she is only the means to an end, who is Christ.
The funniest part is that you can genuinely love the Catholic Church, defend tradition, appreciate the Latin Mass, and still find some traditional Catholics absolutely insufferable. Some people have turned being Catholic into a competitive sport where the winner is whoever can be the most offended. I came here to grow in holiness, not develop a second blood pressure problem lol

An ever shifting feast of diversions is constantly paraded before us; each grabs our minds & hearts, injects their poison and disappear quickly. We forget the outrage and move on, but the damage remains. We quickly forget that which briefly consumed us because the next distraction is oh so attractive. In the end, we become hollowed out men and women, feeling shallow and quick things, jumping from distraction to distraction. We’ve volunteered for this, Lord & we are so very sorry. Rewire us, Heavenly Father. Gently rewire us to focus on the true, the beautiful, the good, the eternal. Strengthen our resolve to be distracted by nothing but thoughts of love and truth. Only one tribe is eternal and that tribe is Yours, Lord. Never let me leave it. Amen #talkedtotheboss

🙏 WHO NOURISHES THOSE WHO SPEND THEIR LIVES NOURISHING THE FAITH OF OTHERS? This past week, priests and deacons from the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma stepped away from their daily ministries for separate spiritual retreats at Subiaco Abbey in Arkansas. Through prayer, Mass, spiritual reflection and fellowship, these retreats provide an opportunity to deepen their relationship with Christ, renew their vocations and find spiritual nourishment for the work God has entrusted to them. Even those who dedicate their lives to guiding others in faith need time to pause, pray and be renewed in God's presence. Please keep our priests and deacons in your prayers as they return to their ministries, strengthened in faith and ready to continue serving the people of Eastern Oklahoma! Pope Leo XIV at Angelus thanks all the people that prayed for him in these days that he was operated on and was hospitalised for: “I desire to thank all those who, in these days, have prayed for me. I truly felt your support. Thank you. In particular I would like to express my gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and all the staff at the Gemelli Hospital. This experience has made me feel particular closeness to all those who suffer from illness or infirmity. Overcoming this delicate phase, I will be gradually taking up my activities again, always with help of God and with your prayers. Thank you again. Thank you and a good Sunday to you all.”

In a statement from the Holy See Press Office, Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said the Pope underwent blood tests and a chest X-ray in the morning, which confirm that his clinical condition allows for him to leave hospital. The Holy See Press Office said he will return to the Vatican on Saturday afternoon and pray the Angelus on Sunday from the window of the papal apartment.

Prayers for Pope Leo as he undergoes a medical procedure this week.
"Durante alcuni controlli, i medici mi hanno trovato un nodulo circoscritto al polmone. È stato individuato in una fase molto iniziale e ben localizzato. I medici ritengono opportuno intervenire, e allora, seguendo i loro consigli, ho deciso di operarmi per toglierlo"
