all these small labs with their own models just feels like when china kept launching their own OS. back then it was always just a linux version, and now it's always just a chinese model post-train

the trick is to move away from english, that's why our new internal support ticket system is called tmd-14
It's almost impossible to come up with a good product name these days All the good names have been taken 🫠

robots are probably the only thing in tech not getting rebuilt in rust atm

been working on a fun analytics side project so I can actually do some fundamental equity analysis with the limited time I have available, but I guess I have to go rewrite it in rust now before I talk about it

I'm personally offended they would launch this and purposefully block finland from using it at all...
Replying to @Revolut
@Revolut just launched payments with your face called "Pay with Smile" 🤯 No card. No phone. Just look at the screen and pay. The new Pay with Smile feature is being piloted in London from today at selected Kiss the Hippo cafes. Here’s how it works: → Tap “Pay with Smile” on a Revolut Register → Facial recognition verifies your identity → The payment is authenticated → Money moves account-to-account Customers have to actively opt in through the Revolut app, and Revolut says merchants won’t store customers’ facial recognition data. Another interesting piece for merchants: 0% processing fees on Pay with Smile transactions. Alex Codina, GM of Merchant Payments at Revolut Business: “By combining high-performance processing with facial recognition technology, we’re replacing outdated, fragmented tills with a hyper-efficient checkout experience.” The pilot runs in London’s Bloomsbury, Chelsea and Soho locations from September 24–26, with a wider rollout of Revolut Register coming later. We’ve spent years moving from cash → cards → phones → wearables. Now your face could become the payment method. Would you be comfortable paying like this??

an event in HK with robots... and beers. robots and beers
luma.com/cxhb5ij1 Plenty of warning this time so no excuses... Drop me a message if you have something you'd like to present, whether it is a paper, a project or just a rant about the industry.

Deloitte has sharply raised its 2026 forecast for Hong Kong IPOs to a record HK$480 billion, driven by a surge in mega-deals and dual listings. The revised target places the city among the world’s top three IPO venues caixinglobal.com/2026-09-24/…

look, when you're selling to consumer, fun is usually the missing component. Yes, it has to work (for its purpose, which is another discussion), and it should be easy to use, but ppl really underestimate how much attention, retention, and forgiveness you can get by being fun. fun is a core feature. Also seen some say that you can get the same/better performance with other harnesses if you just take the time to set them up correctly, and... it all just feels like 2010 linux sometimes
Meta will continue to be successful because they understand that a winning consumer AI strategy is “hey you can use AI to negotiate a good deal on a Peloton through Marketplace and btw we made a silly little AI character with a fluffy butt that you can look at on your new Meta Tamagotchi” not “run our open weight model 6.7.1 on this new Chinese orchestration architecture oh and btw it might take your job and kill you good luck”

Amazing PR win
Nearly half a year of silence. We spent it studying one problem: how far RL can scale. MiMo-V2.6 is in the middle of its RL run right now. Three things we scaled: compute (~2B tokens per step, 1568 prompts × 16 rollouts, fully async), environments and harnesses (multi-task agentic RL, mixed across multiple harnesses in one run), and grader compute (agentic in-group credit assignment, with test-case and rubric-based rewards). We'll open-source the details piece by piece over the coming weeks. Streaming the run: mimo.xiaomi.com/rl/
