🇦🇿🇮🇱🇹🇷 Baku's oil crosses Turkey to fuel Israel, Israel's weapons flow back to Baku, and the next place on the map is Iran. Ship tracking put Azeri crude at about 46% of Israel's 2025 oil imports, and SIPRI counted Israel at about 69% of Azerbaijan's major arms imports in 2016-20. The video walks through the line step by step. So is Aliyev betting on Israel over Turkey, and what is the prize? The oil The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline runs through Georgia and Turkey to the port of Ceyhan, and tankers take the crude on to Israel (the sea leg is our illustration, no route is published). Israel does not comment on its suppliers and Baku's customs data list no Israel, so the 46% is a ship-tracking estimate, not an official figure. The arms Israeli drones flew for Azerbaijan in the 2020 war with Armenia, next to Turkish ones. An Israeli joint venture, Azad Systems, has built drones near Baku since 2011; Harop attack drones, Barak 8 air defence (delivered 2016) and two Israeli spy satellites (a deal reported at about $120 million in 2023) complete the list. Aliyev has put Israeli defence purchases at close to $5 billion, as relayed second-hand. What is only reported CNN said on 4 June 2026, citing anonymous sources, that Israeli forces ran drone and intelligence sites in southern Azerbaijan during the war with Iran. Baku called it "entirely baseless". The video marks it as reported, with an approximate zone, not as fact. The Iran angle, as a scenario Aliyev said in 2022 that Iran's Azeris are "part of our people". Estimates of their number run from about 12 to over 20 million. No separatist movement is reported. The video shows Iran's Azeri-majority provinces joining Azerbaijan as a what-if, leaving out the Kurdish-majority areas south and west of Lake Urmia. Turkey's red line Foreign Minister Fidan said on 7 March 2026 that breaking Iran up along ethnic lines is "the most dangerous scenario", a fear shaped by Turkey's own Kurds. Baku and Ankara are already quarrelling: the hijab ban, 31 Turks barred from Azerbaijan, and Aliyev skipping the Turkic States summit in Ankara. Both sides need the deal, since Israel needs the oil and Baku needs the arms, and Turkey sits on a pipe it cannot close without hurting itself. Ankara helped arm Baku in 2020 and now watches its protégé act with other partners.
