There is something deeply cynical about the way some of the ultra rich put on public displays of religious devotion. Whether genuine or staged, these performances help create an image of piety while encouraging superstition among ordinary people.
Think about the class divide. The rich have money, power, the best education and every opportunity life can offer. Yet they publicly display their religious devotion in front of millions who struggle to make ends meet. The message to the poor is simple: if even billionaires rely so heavily on religion, perhaps it is their only hope too.
This is how religion can become a tool of social control. The rich hold on to their wealth and privilege, while the poor are encouraged to pray for miracles instead of questioning inequality or demanding a fairer society. Meanwhile, self proclaimed godmen and babas make money out of their desperation.
The wealthy do not need divine intervention to protect their interests. They have money, power and privilege. It is the poor who are sold the fantasy of salvation while being denied the means to change their material conditions.
A society that teaches the poor to pray rather than question inequality is doing a tremendous service to the rich. 🤔🤔
not sure if this posturing is going to have any weight to it once the tech is normalised, since these people are usually hypocritical and reason in and out of opinions based on convenience
anti-ai indoctrination in schools makes me think otherwise though

a good thinking exercise: identify what sans augmentation means. does it even mean anything. is it socially acceptable augmentation that disappears in the fabric at the time and doesn’t feel like augmentation

Remember kids! If you look up to a designer because of their social media presence or their videos -
That means they’re good at social media or videos - it says zero about their ability to design

If written with AI, people will skim it. If the image is made with AI, people will ignore it. If your socials are AI-heavy, you will be seen as cheap. Startups which understand this in their brand-building will win.

Call it AI slop. Call the visuals trash, the gameplay terrible, or say it’s a copy of Cuphead or MOUSE: P.I. For Hire. You’re allowed to dislike what I’m making. But you don’t get to decide what it means to me.
For the past four months, I’ve been building this game, doing 60% of the work myself, with AI helping me create my own engine layer on top of Godot and bring the world to life. I’m open about the tools I use. I have nothing to hide.
The character at the heart of this game is someone I used to draw as a kid. For years, that’s all he could be: a drawing and an idea I couldn’t afford to make real. The animation and artwork costs were simply beyond my reach.
Now I can finally make that game. I can watch a character from my childhood move, explore, and exist in a world I imagined. And I’m having a damn blast doing it.
Criticize the game. Tell me what looks bad, what plays badly, what needs work. I can take that. But attacking me for using the tools that made this possible won’t make me ashamed of it.
I’m not making this to get rich. I’m making it because I’ve wanted to for most of my life.
You don’t have to play it. You don’t have to like it. I’m still going to make it.
A month ago there was a launch video from tavas and you could say that it was AI. But this ?? You can’t possibly say it’s AI without reading the caption. Just insane.
Very excited to launch Avatar Arena! 🤖
Video is the highest-trust medium for human communication, and when it works, it works better than anything else. And, AI models have just started to come around to supporting high-quality, studio-grade video generation.
If you're someone with use cases for AI video - like product demos, ad hooks, founder updates, or podcast promos - we'd love for you to try us out. You can generate avatar vids by recording a 15-second clip of yourself or just going with a stock avatar. Two AIs will give you their best shot of bringing your vision to life and you choose one!
Avatar Arena currently supports models from - @HeyGen, @synthesiaIO, @veedstudio, @Creatify_AI , Captions, @Jogg_ai, @tavus and @runwayml.
All the votes over the next few weeks go into a leaderboard, which we'll publish soon.
Try it @ arena.newmeasure.ai :)
(Could you tell the vid below is AI? 👀)

“Years do odd things to identity.” A poem by Ursula K. Le Guin.

ALT Leaves BY URSULA K. LE GUIN Years do odd things to identity. What does it mean to say I am that child in the photograph at Kishamish in 1935? Might as well say I am the shadow of a leaf of the acacia tree felled seventy years ago moving on the page the child reads. Might as well say I am the words she read or the words I wrote in other years, flicker of shade and sunlight as the wind moves through the leaves.

as I talk with 'scientists' about the future of knowledge work, I find it interesting that they often think of the economy too in terms of 'solving it' as if we could just figure out the one right way to sell, to market, to design projects, set goals, as if there is a fixed set of wants and needs to pull from, but the economy like art (and like science, or so I believe) is open-ended and there is no solution to open-endedness, there is only exploration, and this has something to do with the positive sum nature of the economy too, which is unlike science (or at least as it has been so far) which has some zero-sumness to it and so on, the economy, like ML models, is not discovered, but designed, and the only limit to it is our imagination
