Here we go again: the MITRA-FR vs COAPT nightmare, revisited. Two LAAO trials, two different results—unsurprising, for many reasons. In CHAMPION-AF, among patients with atrial fibrillation, left atrial appendage closure was noninferior to NOACs for cardiovascular death, stroke, or systemic embolism, and superior for non–procedure-related bleeding. #ACC26

This slide just can’t catch a break. Every time I try to make it concise, a new trial drops the next day. This time it’s about the timing of complete revascularization in ACS.
After the trial showing noninferiority of the immediate approach (BIOVASC), the one showing superiority (MULTISTARS-AMI), and the one showing “non-noninferiority” (OPTION-STEMI), of course at #TCT2025 we now have the one showing “non-superiority” (iMODERN).
And since confusion clearly loves company, the next logical step is a meta-analysis — at least then the confusion will be sophisticated.
