Just set up a new project with @gulpjs for the first time in years. Took about 20 minutes, and it's my first time using gulp 4. Forgot how nice it is for simple projects!

If you still use @gulpjs in your projects, create your tasks as a regular JavaScript function without using `task()` API since it is not a recommended pattern anymore. Then register them publicly by exporting from your gulpfile to be run by the `gulp` command.

Really impressed by the latest (v4) APIs from @gulpjs. It's all done with function composition now (no more strings), and the built-in handling of promises, streams and child processes makes most things "just work".

You might have dependencies in the project that are preventing Gulp from upgrading. npm will always resolve version conflicts by downloading the *oldest* version that your project dependencies require. You can use package-lock.json to debug dependencies.
