Fair to say I do not jump on the bandwagon of success.
3 clubs combined โ160 years in 3 competitions, 2 premierships in 1921/2 (Go Bears!).
Luckily, Iโm a patient man & not dependent on the success of others for my own self-esteem.

And so it begins. America votes, Australia watches.

My own experience with Tiananmen was more peripheral - I arrived in Wuhan in August 89 to teach medical students but my classes were delayed while students were re-educated. ๐

But some of them told me later, when I gained their trust, about their experiences not just in Wuhan, but also in Beijing, & particularly what they witnessed. Some, who had been more active participants, had their language classes cut back. ๐
This was a specific punishment as their textbooks from 3rd year on were in English. Later I judged a spoken English comp where a student read Shelleyโs Ode to the West Wind, emphasising the lines โIf winter comes, can spring be far behindโ. They still had hope. @NickKristof
I wish that giving blood were so commonplace, so everyday an event that I didnโt feel the need to humblebrag my donations in an attempt to guilt people into following suit.
Once again, if you can give blood, & I know some people canโt, you should consider doing so. @RedCrossAU
As Iโve often said to my partner, who is dubious at best about my book-buying habit, what if there comes a time when I canโt afford to buy new books? Iโll have literally (& I mean that literally) hundreds of unread books to choose from. #itsnothoardingifitsbooks
Trumpโs going to be furious when Putin beats him for the Nobel Peace Prize.
โCalling Putin a humanitarian is like calling Hannibal Lecter a humanitarian, although there is more of a case to be made for Hannibal because he does, at least, subsist on people.โ @petridishes on Steve Witkoffโs recent remarks to the Russian president: theatlantic.com/newsletters/โฆ
Our mutual friend Mr de Ceglie had his sticky fingers all over this, @OBBY001, through his roles as editor of The Worst, & then as director of news & current affairs for Seven West Media. (Starting at the Collie Mail might be viewed as a triggering event though. IYKYK)

I know most of you know me as a woke urban sophisticate, but I really did have a feral childhood in the NT after my family moved back to Oz after 10 years in the UK. โก๏ธ roo & buffalo hunting; swimming at UDP Falls (Waterfall Creek); snake charming; armed & dangerous (to myself).
Did Graham & Switta sign a post-employment non-disclosure agreement to protect our intellectual property rights? One for you, @FreoLou @conversacean
Iโm genuinely curious how this works when coaches & players change clubs.
Something for me to watch this afternoon, @PurpleHaze_Lee
Go Pirates!
Seems legit. Itโs always Jonesโs fault. Alan, Eddie either/or.

That was my first beer in nearly six months. Beating the ABs in Perth, in front of their โhomeโ crowd, made it even sweeter. Having it with Mark โCowboyโ Shaw was even betterer. #bledisloecup #smashthehoodoo
