A conference that is zero percent performative. Just discussions and insights.
The Drop shared all the content from this years conference, every session transcribed and summarized.
It is probably the best organized conference I ever been to. I especially like that everyone has headphones connected only to your session. And there are no stages, no panels, only small sessions about the topics you are most interested in.
My session on financial viability of carbon removal: thedropconf.com/ripples/summ…
TL;DR Carbon removal can already be the cheapest way to deal with some emissions, but that counts for little if buyers are not allowed to use it. When the rules keep removal out of a company's near-term targets, "nothing can make it financially viable because it's not allowed."
And
"most methods have at least an Excel way of getting to $100, but then everything is way more expensive in reality".

Now that Astra is here, I'm not sure how Docsend survives.
Personally, I'm planning to ditch them for my next fundraise and instead share the Data Room as a Legends of the Hidden Temple-like game, created via Blender MCP, in which LPs have to have their avatars cross The Moat to access the SOI, pass the Steps of Knowledge to read like Lessons Learned from Previous Funds, roll giant boulders to uncover the Reference List, and sneak past the Temple Guard to read the Memo, etc. I think they're really going to enjoy it.
The future is here. It's just not evenly distributed.
I am now soooo looking forward to Padre Guilherme's first show at LSF!

Its not Simcity, but business school students who were good at Civ V also turn out to be better planners, organizers, and problem-solvers in this small experiment.

I asked (my) Claude about their umwelt. Interesting response: umwelt-production.up.railway…
Is anyone working on making Claude understand Audio? I am completely stuck in my project to make a perfect copy of Oxygène, Pt. 4 in Strudel (tinyurl.com/strudel-jarre-ox…).
And Claude can't help, as it can't "listen to music!" 🙀

“AC this, wash dryer that, US woohoo, EU boohoo” - Why are we eating this brand-warfare from the outside about us up?
Europe has the strongest precision manufacturing in the world, we have leading teams in AI, CV, robotics. Europe is a leader in Automation and Frontier Tech!
Not a single NVIDIA chip could be produced without European machines. Not a single American cloud, robotics, or deep-tech firm would operate without European manufacturing or suppliers.
But we are too humble. Brainwashed to never celebrate Europe. By outsiders and our local politicians.
Time for a change.
Europe is the birthplace of industrialization.
The home of frontier tech.
Time, we act like it.
Welcome to the real Europe! 🔥🇪🇺
Great advice: don't join the announcement economy—build a muscle of execution. It is so easy to turn anything into a dopamine game and outsource your "rewards" instead of internalizing.
Replying to @tamarawinter
2/ I can’t stress this one enough: avoid chasing the red herrings of success.
I worry that in pushing everyone to “build in public” we’ve created a kind of announcement economy…one in which you can receive the same funding, attention, dopamine hits, by announcing an _intention_ to build something…as you can by simply shipping something excellent.
The biggest scandal is that top European countries went to North America in the 15th-16th century and introduced iron tools, firearms, and a written language.
Colonialism and politics were well-kept European secrets that allowed us to be dominant in the global economy. And, we just gave it away.
Just hundreds of years later, the US has a full-stack periochial mindset of dominance of its own.
The biggest scandal is that top Silicon Valley VC firms went to China and “taught them how to do early stage investing.”
Venture capital is American Dynamism. “It is the thing that allows America to be dominant in the global economy.” And we just gave it away.
“VCs went over there and shared information, shared limited partners, shared all of the aspects and the functions of how you build an incredible legacy defining venture firm.”
Twenty years later, China has a full-stack tech ecosystem aligned with the CCP.
The real scandal is not just Apple but Silicon Valley itself.
