Yet another instance of crackdown in Iran:
The judiciary has intervened in what Iranian outlets have described as a “controversy” in the northern city of Noshahr.
Apparently, the controversy refers to a mixed-gender rave held near a hotel following a beach tennis tournament.

Iranian FM Araghchi arrived in Doha, Qatar, en route to New York.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said earlier that Doha has been exchanging various ideas for nearly two weeks on resuming Iran-US negotiations.

In an interesting development:
Iran said that it had received information that the U.S. had decided at a joint meeting in an unspecified European country to resume military action against Tehran, with what it described as a "green light" from some countries in the region. It did not say what action it was referring to, when the meeting took place or which countries were involved.

Instagram is designed as a space for connection and expression, but its systems also determine who gets heard and who gets silenced.
Amjad Amini is a mourning father, posting about his innocent daughter, Jina (Mahsa) Amini. If mass-reporting can make his voice disappear, this isn’t just about individual users abusing a button, it’s about a platform whose design makes silencing possible.
Design is never neutral. And free expression means little when the system is designed to make voices disappear.
Shame on the designers who obey this system of oppression.

NEW: The US military was prepared to board a Chinese vessel in the Middle East earlier this spring -- during war with Iran -- after an intel report concluded it was transporting components of a nuclear weapons program.

Interesting piece on how Iran is struggling to reroute trade via land borders while the American blockade idles its ports:

A State Dept spox says the U.S. is giving visas to “the core delegation from the Iranian regime” to attend the UN General Assembly opening session next week. The delegation will have travel restrictions and be prohibited from buying luxury goods.
