In March, a video of a badly behaved tourist in Thailand circulated on social media. The woman was described as Russian, probably because she was speaking Russian in the original footage.
Two months later, the same footage appeared on an Instagram account dominated by deranged anti-Israel content, posts including fakes, burning Israeli flags, insults directed at Israelis and other inflammatory material. This time, the woman was presented as an Israeli tourist, fitting into the account’s anti-Israel agenda.
The account’s name is visible in the ABC video, indicating that the footage came from that account.

One of the episodes featured a video of a woman behaving inappropriately on a street in Thailand. According to the ABC, the video shows “Israeli tourists being disrespectful towards Thais”.
The woman's behaviour in the video is definitely ugly, but the problem is that she is not Israeli. So how did she become Israeli according to the ABC?

Just when I thought the ABC couldn't sink any lower in its reporting on Israel, it managed to surprise again.
On 24 October, the ABC published a video smearing Israeli tourists in Thailand, portraying them as thieves, criminals, and troublemakers who disrespect locals. The video digs up dirty stories from 2025 right through to the present.
But the ABC's Asia presenter went even further, introducing the accusations of colonisation: "Some Thais are now accusing Israeli expats of trying to low-key colonise parts of their country, a hugely sensitive issue for Thailand which has never been colonised." Colonising Thailand. Seriously? Who exactly are these "some Thais"? She doesn't say. But judging by her tone and the video's context, she has no problem with this accusation.
Thailand definitely has plenty of problems with tourists from different countries. But why is the ABC always obsessed with just one?
But the real scandal emerges when you start digging deeper: many of the ABC's supposed examples of Israeli misconduct don’t even involve Israelis.

If roles were reversed, and it were a male politician making this face whilst a woman was addressing the parliament, it would kick off an "urgent national conversation" about how disrespectful Australian men are to women, misogyny, the political boys club, male entitlement, the manosphere, rape culture, how this perpetuates male violence against women, and on, and on, and on.
