Crowding on targets seems like a capital allocation issue rather than an AI issue. Yes it'll happen but plenty of companies working on new targets both because the molecular generation is being deployed for hard targets and AI is being used to help generate new ideas.
The Fruits of AI Drug Abundance: Indigestion In The Near Term
While the long term impact of AI is likely transformational, in the near term more drugs against known targets will likely exacerbate the crowding challenge dragging down industry R&D productivity

Love reading about these projects that would have taken entire PhDs to do previously. We're going to see a lot more elegant, self-contained solutions like this in the coming months...
What will drug discovery look like when intelligence is abundant?
Our team at @generate_biomed began with this question, and we’re excited to share some results!
We took on in vivo CAR-T and designed a scaffold 70% smaller than ones in the clinic, with 3x the potency 🧵
