✅ Good 🤩 NEWS! This is exactly what pragmatic Brexit repair looks like: both sides negotiating a workable route out of Brexit’s barriers.
The EU has accepted transition periods so farmers and food businesses can adapt without facing £500–£810 million in sudden annual costs. Britain can temporarily continue gene-edited crop development, while wider alignment should remove checks, reopen markets and make food trade cheaper and safer.
This news also punctures the claim that Brussels never compromises. Once Britain approaches Europe seriously, solutions become possible.
The November summit is shaping up as the first substantial removal of Brexit damage: easier food trade, linked carbon markets and restored opportunities for young people.
Not everything can be repaired immediately, but the direction is positive and every barrier removed delivers a tangible benefit.

It's good to see the first steps back to public ownership.
But the need to put water companies into special administration is immediate: regulation by negotiation is not working and it's time that the Government took action

The case for rejoining the EU has never been stronger.
It’s now the only path for securing our long-term prosperity.
And we mustn’t delay. Labour must start making the case - and then use the next election to secure a mandate to rejoin.

A barrister hired a digger, pulled 200 bags of rubbish out of a dead stream and got the fish, herons and dragonflies back. The Environment Agency @EnvAgency replied with a letter about a missing permit. Maximum punishment 2 years in prison.
That is Paul Powlesland @paulpowlesland of @gardencourtlaw and the River Roding Trust @riverroding in East London.
Update for anyone who missed it. On 25 June the agency dropped the prosecution threat and sent a warning letter.
In August a study funded by Thames Water @thameswater and run with @Thames21 found 600 million litres of sewage contaminated water entering the lower Roding every year.

Palantir didn’t hire a former Labour deputy leader for his coding skills. It hired him for access.
Tom Watson’s move is more than a private career choice. It’s the revolving door in action and another blow to public trust.
The integrity gap won’t close until politicians pick a side.

‼️ Jim Ratcliffe:
🔹 Backed Brexit
🔹 Moved his tax residence to Monaco
🔹 Abandoned plans to build the British 🇬🇧 Grenadier in Wales and moved production to France
🔹 Now lectures Britain from Denmark about why the country is on the slide
And who does he blame? Immigrants and people on benefits.
The billionaires who helped hollow Britain out always point down, never at Brexit, tax flight, chronic underinvestment or their own decisions.
*Toughness* seems to mean somebody poorer paying the price.

The RNLI is a charity that exists to save lives at sea. But recent events have generated deliberate misinformation and a misunderstanding about their purpose and lifesaving work.
As a result, some of their volunteers and staff have been the subject of online and, in some cases, physical abuse. The Portsmouth Lifeboat Station is currently closed as a result of this and the violent disorder.
I have met with the RNLI Chief Executive to offer my full support for their vital work and continue to liaise with our local Lifeboat team.
The RNLI's people represent the very best of society and our city. They dedicate themselves to rescuing people they've never met before, without judgment, fear or favour.
