It may have become normal, but it shouldn’t and doesn’t have to be. It erodes confidence in our elections systems, feeds conspiracism, and leads to denialism.
If you go to bed on election night and don't know who won a midterm congressional race, that's normal. And if you wake up the next morning and find that a candidate who was behind hours earlier has since pulled ahead, that's normal, too. (via @PolitiFact) to.pbs.org/4zqnWBa

Tie game, just seconds left in 3rd, Game 7 of Stanley cup, and Rangers awarded penalty shot... which current or former #NYR are you choosing to take it?

Shouldn't have to demote Gabe Perreault to get the $11M player going
Lines look like this:
Dorofeyev - Zibanejad - Lafrenière
Kartye - Miller - Bjorkstrand
Cuylle - Laba - Perreault
Raddysh - Glendening - Rempe

🔈🔉🔊 New podcast!
Episode 108 of Blueshirt Bandwidth is the Kevin Klein Episode—a scrappy, overtime-goal-scoring No. 8 who was better than he gets credit for, just like these Rangers. Recording as the Kings ran away with Monday’s game, @JoeFortunatoBSB and @iEricKohn react to the James Reimer signing and Mike Sullivan’s quick hook after one period, why Dylan Garand’s play is what average NHL goaltending actually looks like for fans spoiled by Henrik Lundqvist and Igor Shesterkin, and the latest on Joonas Korpisalo’s foot infection. They also make the case for putting Scott Morrow on waivers, celebrate Adam Fox’s 100-point pace and Alexis Lafreniere’s post-Panarin breakout, defend Pavel Dorofeyev (and dunk on plus-minus), and explain why a bubble playoff team without Igor is still progress. Plus: remembering Ron Duguay and whether the NHL should borrow the NFL’s faster rebuild model. Give it a listen!

From me @NRO, with a frightening warning to voters:
A List of Things Democrats Might Do If They Retake Power

Alright, I'm convinced. You shouldn't build around a goaltender.
Just point me to the Hockey Player Store where I can return Igor Shesterkin and get me a few of them Connor McDavids for my team.
That's how this works, right?
Two points...
1) It's less of an exception/rule than is regularly suggested, especially lately:
2025 - Bobrovsky - 11.36%
2024 - Bobrovsky - 11.98%
2021 - Vasilevskiy - 11.66%
That's half of the last six Cup-winning teams. Also there are several examples of teams with goaltenders in the 8-9% of the cap range who won going back to 2009.
2) If the Rangers had a Nathan McKinnon or Jack Eichel or Sidney Crosby to build around, I'd probably feel differently. But they don't. You work with what you have. Which brings me back to: You could have dispensed with Igor, found good but clearly inferior goalie to pay something like $6 million AAV and then... do what with that remaining $5.5?
Replying to @iEricKohn
Taking the exception and not the rule is certainly a choice.
Twisting sh*t into a pretzel is still a sh*t pretzel.
