October’s bets are in, and they focus on rethinking how things have always been done.
What if denim could perform across climates without water-intensive processing? What if metal manufacturing could be faster and more cost-effective?
These are the questions that piqued our interest at IAN Group, and our portfolio companies @Indigotexpvtltd and ThinkMetal are addressing them in different ways.
IndigoTex is reimagining wool denim through patented, waterless textile technologies, while ThinkMetal is streamlining precision metal manufacturing through indigenous additive manufacturing. They are challenging conventional approaches to long-standing industry problems.
At IAN Group, we believe compelling opportunities lie in backing founders who question convention and turn bold ideas into practical solutions.
Here’s to looking beyond the obvious and building what comes next. 🚀

What does failure teach you that success never can?
For founders, the answer could make all the difference.
In a conversation on @CNBCYoungTurks on @CNBCTV18News, @TheSaurabhSri, Co-Founder of IAN Group, shares why founders who have experienced failure can be particularly valuable to investors and organisations.
His point is simple: success can make you believe you got everything right, but failure forces you to examine what went wrong. From operational gaps to systemic challenges, understanding the reasons behind failure is what turns experience into better decision-making.
It’s an important perspective on the realities of entrepreneurship and the lessons that shape founders and businesses, themes that also underpin the conversation around The Lift-Off Nation, co-authored by Saurabh Srivastava and Rajan Anandan.

Adding to this momentum, Manastu Space has been awarded ₹116 crore under the Government of India’s Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund to advance its indigenous green propulsion technology.
IAN is proud to back Manastu Space as it pushes the boundaries of Indian deeptech and builds solutions for the future of space exploration.

There is something compelling about the way India’s startup ecosystem is finding its footing, with more domestic capital backing ambitious ideas and founders taking on problems that have long needed better solutions.
What makes this moment particularly interesting is the sheer breadth of opportunity. From AI applications and deeptech to advanced manufacturing, Indian entrepreneurs are working across sectors where the potential to create real, lasting impact is immense. And with founders emerging from beyond the usual startup hubs, the ingenuity shaping this ecosystem is coming from places we may not have looked to before.
Our Co-Founder, @padmajaian, joined Shweta Punj on Political Economy for a conversation on the forces shaping this journey and the opportunities that lie ahead. It is a thoughtful look at an ecosystem that is learning, adapting and finding its own stride.

India’s transition to clean energy depends on addressing two interconnected challenges: making better use of underutilised agricultural residue and meeting the bioenergy sector’s growing demand for reliable biomass.
@farmwattin79212 is working to bridge this gap through its biomass aggregation network, connecting farmers with the renewable energy ecosystem. By helping curb stubble burning, boosting rural incomes, and enabling better utilisation of agricultural residue, the company is contributing to India’s transition towards a circular bioeconomy.
Milo Drive is also addressing critical challenges in the clean mobility ecosystem, contributing to the shift towards more sustainable transportation solutions.
As highlighted in Climate Capital Snapshot Q3 2026 by The Climate Guys, IAN Alpha Fund backs both FarmWatt and Milo Drive, recognising the potential of founders building solutions to some of India’s pressing climate challenges.

The real test of deeptech innovation lies in what happens after the breakthrough.
Can a scientific discovery become a market-ready product? Can that product grow into a viable business? And can that business scale into a globally competitive enterprise?
In her latest article, @padmajaian, Co-Founder of IAN Group, explores what it takes to build deeptech companies in India. Patient capital, industry partnerships, commercialisation, and access to public markets all play a role in helping these ventures grow.
At IAN, we have seen how investing in deeptech often means backing ideas years before their commercial potential is fully realised. It takes time, conviction, and sustained engagement to help turn that potential into lasting value.

We often take the little things around us for granted, without ever imagining the extraordinary possibilities they hold. Silk, for instance, has long been admired for its beauty. But what if it could help repair bones? 🧬
That’s the kind of possibility Serigen is bringing to life.
An IAN portfolio company, Serigen has launched Serioss, the world’s first silk-protein bone void filler to complete clinical trials and secure regulatory approvals, taking a breakthrough rooted in Indian scientific research from the lab to the operating room.
But innovations like these don’t happen in isolation. Behind every breakthrough are years of research, a team willing to push boundaries, and an ecosystem of mentors, incubators, and early supporters who believe in an idea long before the world sees its potential.
At IAN, we believe that backing innovation means backing the people and possibilities behind it. Serigen’s journey is a reminder of what can happen when a seemingly ordinary resource meets extraordinary scientific thinking and the right community to help it grow.
Here’s to the ideas that make us look at the world a little differently, and to the people who turn them into something that can change lives.
