RIP Patrick Stewart. I grew up watching Star Trek, as I'm sure many of you have, and he was always a real one in whatever he touched. To boldly go...

AI made writing a WordPress Core patch the easy part. Every good first bug I checked already had one, many AI-assisted (mine included). IMO what's scarce is testing and review. A tester's tip led me to tests that hadn't run since 2016 😅 devin.org/every-good-first-b…

I had a few pings on this from the community, and we're solid on the a8c front. :)

Can't believe it's already been a year at @automattic. Wow! Feels like just yesterday was my first day. It was a year of big changes, and I made a few mistakes along the way. But Jetpack's on a better trajectory, and I'm feeling good about year two. devin.org/one-year-at-automa…

NEW: You can now connect @jetpack to @ChatGPT and edit your WordPress site right from the chat. I made a quick video showing how it works. Pretty exciting to see where this is going.

Sometimes, the best product feedback happens face-to-face. At WordCamp Belgrade, the Jetpack team stepped out from behind the booth for a few rapid-fire conversations with the people who use our products every day.

It's release week and 16.3 of @jetpack is out. Lots of good stuff in this one... 380 pull requests from 52 contributors. The feature I'm most excited about is conditional logic in JP Forms. Ask "How did you hear about us?" and only show "Which podcast?" when someone picks "Podcast." Best part is it's free.

"Products makes me immediately think you want money from me." A WordPress teacher said that while I watched her set up @jetpack on a recent interview. I never thought of it that way, but she's right IMO. Now Product → "Features." Every feature gets a switch. Turn one on and it's in your menu right away. Before, after, and a demo 👇 What do you think?

Before and after on the @jetpack Stats card in wp-admin ⚡ One date range for the whole thing instead of four chart tabs and a 7-day list. Views and visitors as real numbers, not just bars. Modernized design, with subtle animation. Still in review. Anything you'd change? 👀

We're rethinking what you see when you open "My Jetpack." Instead of a grid of semi-smart (but often slow loading) products, it leads with quick actions up top, followed by how your site is actually doing. The goal is to answer questions you'd otherwise go hunting for. Early concept. How do you like it? What's missing?

WordPress has given me so much, and I try give back so much. But it pales in comparison to what Matt and Automattic does each and every day. I'm glad I'm here, and I'm glad we have our founder back.
before I joined Automattic I had no idea how much the company invested in WordPress (and so many other open source projects). there are few people in the world who care as much about open source as Matt does.

> you're running a product that's dying Our numbers tell a different story. 📈 WordPress is an incredible ship of technology and community. With clear product vision, it's ethos, and value and relevance will far outlast many of the web platforms du jour. Sorry, it's true!
Replying to @mikemcalister
Mike, what you've been sharing with Ollie is phenomenal. My biggest wish is that what you do is no longer on WP but anything else for the Web. Because you're running a product that's dying :/

One thing I respect about working at @automattic is how seriously we take security and compatibility incidents. And like many others, we've seen a big surge of them lately. @jetpack , I’ve seen that our policies aren’t just documentation... teams follow them, communicate clearly, and learn from what happened. WordPress users deserve that level of responsibility from the plugins they trust.
