My own submission to the “pregnancy is a death sentence” discourse.
It wasn’t meant literally. It was said during an event, yet people are more interested in policing the language than understanding the point.
It’s incredibly insensitive to bring your high moral faux pas into conversations where women are sharing the dangers of pregnancy, their traumatic experiences, and what pregnancy has cost them, especially when women has actually died from complications.
We get it. You’re the better version of the “prototype woman.” You’re not like these other girls . You’re stronger, and apparently above our struggles.
But sometimes, READ THE ROOM.
Let women vent. Let them share their experiences, find comfort in knowing they’re not alone, bond over their struggles, and work together to find solutions to the issues that plague them.

Seeing children out on the cold streets instead of being in classrooms is wrenching. Carrying bowls instead of food flasks. Wearing torn, soiled clothes, two sizes too big, instead of neat, well fitted school uniforms.
Struggling for things no child should ever worry about.

My country offers me
a coffin to carry my dreams
across the streets of despair.
I offer my country my patriotism.
My voice. My verses. My songs.
I offer my country this last blood.
This strength. This dying hope.

In any sane society, your licence to practise medicine would be revoked for such blatant disregard for the sanctity of human life. A doctor who shows such contempt for human life has no business being in the medical profession.

The point is not if what he said is theologically correct or not.
The point is nobody deserves to die for understanding a religion differently. Nobody deserves to face the death threats he received while alive for simply subscribing to a different creed.

Cannot afford basic hospital bills but with multiple wives. Systemic failure aside, a huge part of poverty in this part of the world is self imposed.

So, how can you label someone a kafir simply because their understanding or ideology differs from yours? 😳

Imagine someone who is looking for any possibility to kill other people for religious or doctrinal differences, looking you in the face and saying you don't know Islam! Imagine the audacity.

There is no difference between someone who commits an act of terrorism, someone who takes pleasure in it, someone who supports it, and someone who tries to justify it. They are all terrorists.

Imagine slaughtering a person because they have a different opinion about a book you both believe in. Imagine rationalising this death, asking while his body is still warm and wet from his own blood, why he does not believe in the traditions you believe in.
There are many terrorists in that hellhole called Nigeria. The terrorists that are easy to identify are those with guns. But by far the larger number are the cowards, who hide behind those with guns and knives and throw questions to the bodies lying lifeless on the floor. How dare you not believe in Hadith they say to the dead, bleeding body. If only you did not say those things. I would not kill you myself but why did you go and get yourself killed they say. And those cowards, they are everywhere, in politics, in academia, in the civil service, in journalism, posing as normal human beings.

So because there r religious zealots in the south means we should all be zealots ? What does the extremism in the North have anything to do with South. Just focus on the problem.
BTW, u don’t have to dig into anything, the violence is everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

In 2005 in FUT Minna, same Ebira extremists started an all out war against Christians right there on Bosso campus. When they saw that Christians regrouped and mounted a formidable counterattack, they had to disperse.
No be today.

Didn’t start in 2014/15. As far back as the 80s some Ebira students dropped out of their universities and moved to a particular Middle East country to “learn the deen”. There’s an extremism issue in Kogi central.
