TRUMP HALTS PLANNED IRAN STRIKES
Trump reportedly ordered the U.S. military not to carry out planned strikes on Iran on Friday, despite having previously approved attack plans, according to Axios.
The decision came hours after Oman-mediated talks resumed over reopening the Strait of Hormuz, with reports suggesting negotiations have made progress.

What did you learn from this pullback?

Distribution ranges are proportional to the size of the markup phase at a ratio of roughly 10:1
The bigger the rally, the bigger the range.
One of the biggest mistakes traders make is confusing these large price swings with the start of a new trend.

Question: How Does $RKLB Differentiate Itself From Starlink?
Peter Beck:
We're very deliberate about choosing where we compete.
Iridium's greatest strategic advantage isn't simply that it owns spectrum—it's the specific type of spectrum it owns.
Its L-band spectrum is globally licensed, making it one of the very few truly worldwide communications networks.
Whether you're:
- flying over an ocean,
- sailing across remote waters,
- operating in polar regions,
- or working in isolated areas,
the network remains available.
L-band also offers excellent signal penetration.
Unlike higher-frequency communication bands, L-band performs reliably during severe weather and in challenging environments where uninterrupted connectivity is essential.
That's fundamentally different from building a consumer broadband internet service.
Rocket Lab has always focused on highly specialized, high-value markets rather than trying to compete everywhere.
Iridium has built an exceptional business following exactly that philosophy.
There may certainly be opportunities in areas like direct-to-device communications over time, but investors shouldn't expect Rocket Lab to suddenly transform into a mass-market internet provider.
That's simply not our strategy.

The jobs report looks good on the surface but underneath the headline figures there is weak structure.
Rate-sensitive job sectors are not showing strength.
World cup hirings (shown in hospitality figures) are doing a lot of work for the headline figures.

I don’t get how so many professionals can miss the fact that the report itself does not say almost every industry is hiring again. It says the May gains were heavily concentrated in leisure and hospitality, local government, and health care, while financial activities declined and many major private sectors showed little change. Leisure added 70K, local government added 55K, and health care added 35K. That is 160K of a 172K headline coming from three areas. There is no way that is being missed, so what are we doing here? That is not broad based labor strength.
Health care is defensive and demographic driven. Local government hiring often lags the cycle and catches up while tax revenues are still holding. Leisure and hospitality can look strong late in the cycle because consumers are still spending on services, but it is also one of the first places to crack when demand destruction finally hits.
Meanwhile, higher signal, interest sensitive sectors like finance, professional services, information, retail, and transportation are not confirming the same strength. Add in full time jobs falling 79K, part time jobs rising 266K, U-6 at 8.1%, weak participation, and long term unemployment up 524K over the year.
If the hiring recession is over, why is the strength so narrow, lower quality, defensive, and government heavy while full time work is deteriorating underneath the headline?
Honestly, it looks like the hiring recession is over.
US average job gains in 2025: 10,000 a month
US average job gains in 2026: 114,000 a month
Job gains in the past 3 months: 188,000
Almost every industry is hiring again except tech and finance. There are a lot of encouraging signs for the labor market heading into summer. (Unfortunately, inflation is a lot worse).
Here’s the Nasdaq at the peak of the dot com bubble.
“You won’t be able to time the top.”
Sure but there will be signs.
People who act like the stock market cratered 80% overnight are just trying to get engagement and fear monger.
Not only did the stock market not crash 80% overnight, but it was a drawn out process that took over two years to bottom.
There were plenty of signs that something drastic changed.
A few:
- Key weekly moving average breaks in the Nasdaq
- Big red candles on the major indices
- Cycle leaders topping/weakening
This chart shows a clear character change before the big crash that took place in late 2000 into 2001+.
Even if you didn’t sell at the top and sold 15% lower you still missed a 70% drawdown.
There will be signs when the top is in but you don’t need to exit at the exact top.

The Unemployment Rate Is The Last Thing To Tell The Truth
The real unemployment number would be way higher if the headline counted actual labor stress.
But U-3 does not do that.
U-3 only counts people with no job who are actively looking for work and available to take one. That leaves out a lot of economic pain.
If someone wants a job but stopped looking, they disappear from U-3.
If someone had their hours cut, they still count as employed.
If someone wants full time work but can only find part time work, they still count as employed.
If someone takes lower quality work, gig work, multiple jobs, or a job that does not cover their bills, U-3 still says employed.
If people leave the labor force, the denominator shrinks, which can keep the unemployment rate looking stable even while the labor market underneath is weakening.
That is exactly why April 2026 looked so misleading. U-3 stayed at 4.3%, but household employment fell 226k, the labor force fell 92k, not in labor force rose 188k, participation fell to 61.8%, employment population fell to 59.1%, part time for economic reasons jumped 445k to 4.9 million, and U-6 was 8.2%.
The issue is that the headline unemployment rate is the narrowest useful measure.
It misses the deterioration that shows up first in hours, participation, full time work, underemployment, weak household employment, and people quietly falling out of the labor force.
U-3 is usually the last thing to tell the truth.
