Wayne Couzens. David Carrick. Now Mark Tyrrell. All served in the same Met Police command. How can anyone look at this and not question the culture, oversight and accountability within policing? lbc.co.uk/article/met-police…

I've spent years turning lived experience into advocacy, learning to compartmentalise and keep going. But navigating fertility difficulties while working in abortion care has challenged me in ways I hadn't anticipated. Great to see the new Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Survivor Advisory Panel coming together. A valuable opportunity for survivors to bring their lived experience directly into government decision-making and help shape meaningful, lasting change.
Survivors deserve more than a seat at the table. They deserve to shape change. Great to see @VictimsComm hosting this new advisory panel, giving survivors of child sexual abuse and exploitation a direct voice in shaping policy. Recruitment opens soon. An opportunity worth sharing! makeyourselfheard.org/notice…

We're told electronic tagging provides reassurance and public protection. Now we're learning that some breaches won't even trigger enforcement. What message does this send to offenders? And what reassurance does it offer victims? Safeguards are only safeguards if they mean something. news.sky.com/story/police-to…

Why are survivors still fighting the very institutions they turned to for justice? On Saturday, I spoke at London's #WeAreAllJaneDoe rally. My latest @MYH_ldn Journal reflects on the cost of speaking up, the power of solidarity and why this is bigger than Cornell. makeyourselfheard.org/journa…

A powerful reminder of why lived experience must have a seat at the table when shaping justice reform. These changes didn't happen by chance. They happened because families challenged the system, demanded better and refused to give up. This is what meaningful engagement can achieve.
Families fought. The rules are changing. New powers will hold offenders accountable for refusing to attend sentencing, following years of campaigning by victims' families. A powerful reminder of what lived experience and collective action can achieve. makeyourselfheard.org/notice…

With another wave of difficult headlines, this feels particularly timely to share again. For survivors, campaigners and anyone feeling the weight of the news, a gentle reminder that staying informed doesn't mean carrying everything. You can care, speak up and push for change without carrying it all. Stepping back doesn't mean giving up. makeyourselfheard.org/notice…

Cloud Video Platform (CVP) is down across large parts of England and Wales since 10am. Many of us today, both as prosecution and defence counsel, can not proceed with trials and other hearings. Our work to clear backlogs is hampered. Please urgently let the CBA know which court has been impacted. On this thread. (DM for which case please to contain sensitive material). With thanks @HMCTSgovuk notice:

Had my case not been erroneously closed, it would have been 1,317 days from report to trial. Over three and a half years of uncertainty, emotional exhaustion and trying to rebuild my life. Those years don't come back. And the harm doesn't simply end with a conviction, acquittal or no further action. How the justice system holds victims through that process matters. Its handling should never become another source of harm.
How much more must survivors lose before justice delays are recognised as harm? We've heard from fellow survivors whose health has seriously deteriorated while waiting for justice. Survivors cannot keep paying the price for a failing system. Their health and wellbeing must be central to justice reform, not an afterthought.

When repeat perpetrators account for a quarter of all VAWG incidents, and harmful attitudes are taking hold among young people, the need for prevention couldn't be clearer. We cannot keep responding to violence only after the harm is done. Earlier intervention, education and meaningful accountability must be priorities. lbc.co.uk/article/rising-vio…

If politicians are serious about improving public transport, start by making it safer. Tackle sexual harassment before policing people's headphones, or lack thereof. With a cost-of-living crisis and public trust in the justice system at rock bottom, is loud music really the priority? Enough headline-chasing. Focus on the real problems and deliver meaningful change.
🚨NEW: Andy Burnham has announced crackdown on anti-social behaviour on public transport.

I find this incredibly frustrating. When a well-known, influential man seeks to prevent serious allegations from being reported, it raises uncomfortable questions about power, privilege and accountability. Of course welfare concerns must be taken seriously, but so must open justice and press freedom. Power and status must never become a shield from public scrutiny.
The welfare concerns raised must be taken seriously, but so must the public interest in reporting serious allegations. Being a high-profile individual should not provide additional protection from scrutiny. Any decision about anonymity must be based on clear legal principles, fairness and the public interest - never on status or influence. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c674…

Nine women. Years of reported abuse and institutional failings. An apology and compensation, but no admission of liability. Victims should never have to fight the very institution tasked with protecting them to secure accountability. Credit to these women and the Centre for Women’s Justice for their determination. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

Having navigated the criminal justice system myself, I know how much the gaps between agencies can shape someone's experience. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Have you experienced similar challenges? Share your reflections with us through @MYH_ldn and help inform the wider conversation about reform.
Victims shouldn't have to project-manage their own justice journey. So why are they still left chasing updates, navigating agencies and fighting for their rights? Our latest M.Y.H x Journal explores why justice reform must connect the dots. makeyourselfheard.org/journa…
