NMW to rise to £12.21 per hour, with RLW £12.60 and LLW £13.85 ph
Most councils & ICBs are not paying enough to cover this year’s NMW of £11.44.
Some have not inc fee rates since 2023

Here's a friendly reminder that care workers are multi-skilled, talented people who make a huge difference to millions of us. 4 out of 5 of us will need support in our lives-we need to value our workforce and challenge negative views so we all get the care we need #socialcare

Speaking like this about care workers displays staggering ignorance & disrespect for their vital role.

Council tax is not a sensible mechanism for any government to use to pay for social care.
1% inc in Tameside = £800k, 1% inc in Stockport = £3.5m. Close together, both have huge social pressures.
We need to pool risk at a national level.

Accessing CHC funding is not simple and not fair. Many families find themselves in exhausting doom loops of assessments, reviews and arguments.

The £20m for #socialcare ‘innovation’ being promoted here is welcome but once again it’s short-term money when, as @Helen_Whately rightly says, #socialcare reform needs to be long-term. Can you really embed innovation with two-year funding? I’m sceptical. inews.co.uk/news/politics/no…
