📌 The Labour Party Conference. We're in Liverpool, talking to politicians about changes needed to palliative and end-of-life-care. We'll be making our voice heard, because no one should face death or grief alone.

"During the assisted dying debate, most politicians agreed on one thing – palliative care reform is urgent. Patients and those of us who care for them are waiting." Hear from our Chief Nurse Jane Turner in this article for @theguardian: lnkd.in/e_xBZYMr

🚨 Today, MPs voted down the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which is also known as the assisted dying bill. This means the Bill will no longer progress through Parliament. Read more on our website: sueryder.org/blog/mps-vote-a…

Whatever your view on the Assisted Dying Bill, we must not lose the momentum to transform palliative care. Almost 1/3 people don't get the end of life care they need. Throughout the debate, @Sue_Ryder has remained neutral, though we are clear on the reforms needed.

🚨 Palliative and end of life care is in crisis. That can’t be forgotten as the Assisted Dying Bill returned to Parliament today. We’re not for or against a change in the law. We’re calling on governments across the UK to fix end of life care, so everyone gets the care and support they need in their final days.

Today sees the return of the Terminally Ill Adults Bill to Parliament and I hope we again see a respectful and sensible debate on the key issues involved At Sue Ryder we are neutral on the subject, but we will never be neutral on the need to improve palliative & end of life care

We are pleased to see the Government will be opening new community mental health hubs on high streets. These have the opportunity address significant gaps in bereavement support and it's essential that this support is built into the services they offer. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cpd7…

1 in 3 people in England die without adequate care and support. This isn’t good enough. Our CEO @JamesCSanderson tells us about the importance of the Government prioritising palliative and end-of-life care. Read more on our website: sueryder.org/blog/problem-wi…

The PM said palliative care funding needs fixing. We agree! Our "ecosystem" model would reform palliative care meaning more people get the support they need. We're here to work with @andyburnham to deliver this but it needs to happen soon. Dying people don't have time to wait.

We know what good palliative care looks like and how the system can support it. We welcome @DianaJohnsonMP @Alison_McGovern & @JamesFrith into their new roles and look forward to working together to build a new ecosystem for PEoLC – so fewer people miss out on the care they need.
