Tipu Sultan was born in 1751. Sangam literature written in South India around 300 BCE already records beef and meat consumption in the region, Did Tipu build a time machine, go back 2,000 years, and force people in ancient Malabar to eat beef too?
Tipu Sultan invaded Malabar and forcibly converted Kerala’s Hindus, cut off their shikhas, and forced them to eat beef, punishing those who refused with death. And people in Kerala think eating beef is their culture. 100% literacy rate, saarrr! 🤡

Comrade Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has once again achieved a resounding victory in the elections in Brazil. His victory over the far right serves as an inspiration to struggles worldwide. He did not just defeat his main rival in Brazil, Flávio Bolsonaro; Lula also defeated Trump and the United States, who had imposed sanctions on Brazil at every turn. Despite American authorities carrying out campaigns and other maneuvers to secure Bolsonaro's victory in the Brazilian elections, Lula overcame them all to claim victory. Comrade Lula's victory provides a tremendous inspiration to the fight against the divisive politics of the Sangh Parivar in India. It sends a clear message to our struggles: communal divisions cannot withstand the power of the working class. Greetings to @LulaOficial

Michael Parenti (1933-2026) on the ‘free market’: ‘The free market mythology argues that the most ruthless, selfish, opportunistic, greedy, calculating plunderers, applying the most heartless measures in cold blooded pursuit of corporate interests and wealth accumulation, will produce the best results for all of us through something called the invisible hand.’ The rise of socialism in the United States, particularly among young people, is precisely because Americans can see how ridiculous this mythology of free market capitalism is, given the deteriorating material conditions for millions of Americans, while a tiny oligarchy prospers to astronomical heights. Socialism may be in its infancy in the United States, some who call themselves socialists may only understand it as ‘when the government provides public services’… But the ideas of socialism in the US will snowball and mature, bringing in the ideas of places where socialism has a long tradition such as China, Russia, Latin America, and Europe. Socialism is in its infancy in the United States, the obvious dystopian realities of late-stage capitalism in the US will only fuel its rise and maturation.
Prof. Richard Wolff on the rise of SOCIALISM in the United States🇺🇸: ‘You have to remember when you talk about the US, that for the last 70-75 years, we have lived under a regime. It is a regime that has demonised anything and everything having to do with the Soviet Union, the arch enemy, the communists, the socialists, the anarchists. Most of my students, who are otherwise intelligent, hardworking, very good young men and women, but when you ask them about these issues, they talk as if socialism, communism, Marxism, anarchism, and many other things are synonyms. They have no concept of them beyond they’re bad, they’re foreign, they’re negative. Therefore, for there to even be a serious socialism in this country, which there now is, is an amazing achievement. The whole country is indebted to Bernie Sanders because he broke the taboo by saying, “No, I’m not going to run away from the label socialist.” But we are in the early stages now, so it’s basically too early to answer your question beyond saying it’s very impressive how quickly it’s growing. The latest Gallup polls in our country show that if you ask people below the age of 34, the majority now say they prefer socialism to capitalism.’ Watch the full interview in the quoted post below 👇 @profwolff

The Kisan Sabha has launched a massive "Vehicle Long March", with 12000 peasants from over 20 districts in Maharashtra heading from Akole to Mumbai in over 1000 vehicles, to Varsha Bungalow, the Chief Minister’s official residence. The key demands include adequate relief for drought-hit farmers, immediate payment of crop insurance compensation, ₹2 lakh loan waiver for farmers who have regularly repaid their loans, land titles for those cultivating forest and other lands, fair wages and social security for rural workers and scheme workers, and the resumption of financial assistance to Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana and Ladli Behna beneficiaries. The demand is clear: the government must hold discussions and accept the demands in writing. The struggle will continue until they are fulfilled!

What does the Communist Party of China see as the biggest threat? Not the US, not NATO ... but corruption. Corruption in China will get you a life sentence or a death sentence. So when the US thinks even learning Chinese at the Confucius Institute threatens its national security, the CPC focuses on self-revolution, eliminating any possibility of corruption so it can always protect the PEOPLE's interests.

They call it "Soviet occupation." Yet the Soviet Union helped build 781 factories across Eastern Europe. 249 in Bulgaria, 151 in Poland, 135 in Romania, 111 in Hungary, 94 in Yugoslavia and 41 in Czechoslovakia. Many of these countries now condemn the Soviet past and tear down monuments to Soviet soldiers. Only Hungary, Serbia and Slovakia still remember what the USSR did for them.

Don’t miss this editorial page lead article by Srinivasan Ramani & Pon Vasanth B.A. in The Hindu (October 9, 2026). The article explains in clear, precise, and accessible terms what a massive scandal — an exercise fatally flawed in conception and design, and deliberately exclusionary in impact — the Gyanesh Kumar-directed Special Intensive Revision (SIR) was. It also draws attention to the Supreme Court of India’s failure in the big test and expresses the hope that it will now act decisively to undo the damage.

Prannoy Roy says in his 4 decades of covering Indian elections he has never come across such a disturbing exercise as the SIR in its design and execution. He says west bengal elections need to be reexamined to find it why disproportionately more women and muslim voters were deleted.
How the SIR deletions affect the Bengal election results? Were certain categories of voters targeted and if so, what were the consequences? Does the analysis of Bengal elections suggest any lessons for the forthcoming state elections? Prannoy Roy (@PrannoyRoy7749) uses data on SIR deletions and swings in votes to answer these and other questions about the impact of SIR on the Bengal elections.
