Back from vacation. Was relaxing.
Some thoughts I wrote while chilling:
attachment causes suffering,
status is a poor substitute for meaning,
resentment consumes the person holding it,
attention changes experience,
community matters,
the self is less solid than it appears,
compassion is considerably more adaptive than hostility,
accumulating "more" does not reliably produce "enough".
Take experience seriously.
Take inherited explanations provisionally.
Let insight guide attention.
Judge arrangements by how they treat people, not people by how obediently they fit the arrangement.
Nobody’s life becomes less real because it's uncomfortable in somebody else’s account of reality.

The best conversations at #ICML2026 happen not just in hallways but sometimes outside the conference center.
Just had a great chat with @jedgar on everything from embodied intelligence to solving the loneliness epidemic via human alignment.
He’s a preseed VC looking for crazy ideas to fund so if you’re building something and don’t want the pressure of IPO definitely hit him up outside Hall A at the conference center!

This is a mid take by someone who clearly doesn't use HN.
HN was flooded with "look at my new AI business" during that period, nobody cared/still doesn't care about another AI coding tool on HN.
Please do give up posting your AI stuff on HN and learn real marketing instead.
I wore google glass for a few months in 2014 but
a) was very weird with glasses and
b) multiple issues with people in airports trying to fight me
I quite liked them tho.
Got a bunch of new followers recently. I try to post a good book page on Sunday, and some good music. I remember about 5% of the time. Today I remember!
