(RNS) — Progressive Jewish advocacy organizations condemn what they view as a misguided attempt to fight antisemitism by targeting Palestinian permanent residents, such as Salah Sarsour. religionnews.com/2026/06/17/…

Today’s court order is a welcome and long-overdue step toward justice for Salah Sarsour, a respected Muslim community leader whose detention has caused immense pain to his family and community. No one should be punished for their faith, advocacy, or identity. We urge ICE to immediately comply with the judge’s order, reunite Mr. Sarsour with his loved ones, and end the disturbing pattern of targeting Muslim, Palestinian, and other community members for detention and intimidation. This case is a reminder that due process, human dignity, and constitutional rights must never be optional.
We congratulate Munjed Ahmed and @MLFA for their efforts in the case.

As Jews, we will not be used as Trump’s excuse to deport people without due process and erode the democracy that keeps all of us safe.
Free Salah Sarsour.

Hey James Dolan, your facial recognition technology must not be working. You’re letting a convicted felon, rapist, and war criminal into MSG tonight.

Remember, per ADL:
->a critic of Israel conflating Jewish identity/pride/community with support for Israel is antisemitism [I agree!]
->a critic of Israel refusing to conflate Jewish identity/pride/community with support for Israel is…ALSO antisemitism [see how that works?]
NYC's @israeldayon5th is a celebration of Jewish identity, pride and community. It isn't a political statement about the Israeli government.
Mayor Mamdani has announced that he will skip this annual event, making him the first mayor in more than 60 years to turn his back on the world's largest Jewish community outside of Israel and on friends of the Jewish community. This matters.
I look forward to marching.

When you see the videos of chaos at Delaney Hall, remember that in a few days Congressional Republicans will try to pass a budget bill that would give tens of billions $ more to ICE with zero accountability/reforms. Let’s make our voices heard to stop this bill.
Now there is video of Senator @AndyKimNJ being pepper-sprayed by DHS outside Delaney Hall detention facility on Monday. You can hear onlookers say, “they tear-gassed Andy Kim.”

You should hear me chant in Hebrew!
Surah Ikhlas speaks to the one-ness of God, and it’s what I offer when I visit a mosque. It’s comparable in important ways to the Shema, one of the central prayers in Jewish liturgy, which also declares that God is one. In fact, the Hebrew word for one, “Echad,” is the same as the Arabic word, “Achad.”
But here’s David Frum telling me to pipe down about it in a way that manages to be antisemitic and Islamophobic at the same time.
Frum is both out of his depth and lying about Muslims as usual. Lander beautifully recited Surah Ikhlas, one of the most famous chapters of the Quran which affirms the oneness of God. It says nothing about Christianity and is an affirmation of monotheism:

The manifestos that appear to have been written by the shooters at the Islamic Center of San Diego are a horrifying reminder that extremist ideologies are deeply interconnected.
Combating Islamophobia, antisemitism and all forms of hate requires understanding this broader ecosystem of extremism. 🧵

Today we're gathering in Washington, D.C. for a national call to end family and child detention.
Together with advocates, organizers, and members of Congress, we’re raising our voices to demand:
- An end to all family and child detention
- Not one more dollar to ICE or CBP
- No expansion of detention systems

I've been off twitter for the last few days so I'm a little late to saying this, but I'll say it anyway: Islamophobia enjoys a level of elite institutional support in a way that antisemitism simply does not. The San Diego attack should be evaluated and understood in that context.

This week, the House voted to expand ICE’s powers to go after people accused of shoplifting and minor retail crimes, enabling them to collect and share even more of our private data to aid their mass surveillance machine.
And who was noticeably absent from the vote? My opponent. For all his talk of standing up to ICE, he is failing to show up when it matters and when our rights are actually on the line.

I was thrilled to honor the legendary Ruth Messinger at our pre-Shavuot celebration at Gracie Mansion for Jewish American Heritage Month.
Jewish Americans have long been trailblazers for justice, from labor leaders like Clara Lemlich and Rose Schneiderman to Civil Rights leaders like Henry Moskowitz, Rabbi Heschel, and Marjorie G. Wyler — Ruth Messinger’s mother — who marched from Selma alongside Dr. King.
In order to ensure that Jewish communities can continue to thrive here, my administration is increasing hate crime prevention funding by 800% — because New York must be a place where everyone can live safely and freely.
Whether you are about to finish counting the Omer or are looking forward to cheesecake, Chag Sameach and happy Jewish American Heritage Month!

Mifepristone access is headed back to the Supreme Court, and so are we ⚖️
Today, NCJW led 50+ faith organizations in an amicus brief to the Supreme Court to say: protecting religious freedom means preserving access to medication abortion — and that includes mifepristone.

ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt just went on Shai Davidai's podcast to rant about the "pathology of victimhood,” liberalism, and intersectionality.
As Jews committed to stopping antisemitism and protecting democracy & civil liberties, Greenblatt’s attitude completely undermines the fight against Jew hatred. 🧵
Private equity and hedge funds have benefited disproportionately from this loophole for far too long. Fair is fair: It's time for them to pay up. #TaxTheRich
🚨HISTORIC: Mayor Mamdani officially calls for the reduction of the Pass-Through Entity Tax loophole from 100% to 75%.
MAMDANI: “That change alone would generate nearly ONE BILLION DOLLARS of additional revenue - revenue we can invest in the buses that carry New Yorkers to work, the public schools that educate our children, the public parks and beaches where we spend our summers.”
THIS IS WHAT LEADERSHIP LOOKS LIKE! LET’S GO!
