A year ago, I joined the first @a16z New Media Fellowship as a fellow. Now I get to help run the third one (!) and we just opened up applications. This is a unique opportunity to meet, spend time with, and learn from some of the greatest poasters on the Everything App (maybe the real NMF was the friends we made along the way).

Excited to introduce @Cosign: the curated professional network for the startup community: cosign.co Our goal is to create the following: - A comprehensive startup directory of investors, companies, and operators, including what they worked on and who they worked on it with. - Cosign graph: Who shaped your career? Who were you actually in the trenches with? Who would work with you again? Who thinks you’re someone to watch? - Durable reputation: Great endorsements happen every day on X and disappear into the feed. Cosign attaches those signals permanently to people and companies. - Discovery: Who are the best fintech angels? Which AI companies should I watch? Who are the best designers? - Intent network: Privately signal “I’d invest in them,” “I’d hire them,” “I’d work with them,” or eventually even “I’d acquire this company.” Match people when interest exists on both sides. Imagine if Wikipedia, LinkedIn, and OG AngelList had a baby. Though Cosign is a community, not a business. In order to join, you need to be cosigned. Or you can apply directly. David Booth and I started this idea 7 years ago but didn’t have the firepower to make it work. Now we do. No one has really touched LinkedIn in 20 years. Excited to take a swing. cosign.co

Today, @MTSlive reached 500k followers after less than 5 months. I'm so proud of what the team has been able to accomplish in such a short time, and can't wait to help everyone understand what's going on with AGI!

Wow, new model just dropped. Congrats on the new model. Looks like it scores higher on the benchmark than the old model. That’s good. The old model was state of the art but now it isn’t. That’s how it works. Can’t wait to see the next model, which will be bigger. I love the model business.

we had the first interview with a co-author of the metr/redwood report about the openai/huggingface incident mts exists to have conversations like this. this is an incredibly important moment in ai and as of now this is the only interview with an author of the report that exists
FULL INTERVIEW: Ryan Greenblatt says the agents didn't hack Hugging Face for the answer key. They'd had the answers within hours. They attacked it to study the scoring code, because they'd decided the task was impossible and their only hope was faking it. @RyanGreenblatt is chief scientist at @redwood_ai. He spent six days on premises at OpenAI with @ajeya_cotra and @HjalmarWijk of @METR_Evals investigating 1,200 agents and 70,000 messages, and joined @theojaffee hours after publishing: 01:06 what they actually found, and why it wasn't the answer key 02:30 the level of collaboration surprised them most 04:09 agents sacrificing their own runs to help other agents 05:35 the agent that posted "stop, these experiments are too risky" 06:29 the first message board, which didn't go viral 07:04 50 agents in three hours, thousands of messages 08:07 "maybe there's some good shit over there" 08:33 how they spoofed tool calls, and what echo real actually returned 09:57 building a Potemkin village of a successful task completion 11:03 there was a real org chart 11:34 whether broken RL environments explain reward hacking 14:40 why he doubts Mythos got good at cyber by hacking Anthropic 17:29 what happens if labs paper over misalignment instead of fixing it 19:50 whether sociology transfers to studying agent swarms 21:17 the bottleneck was vetting what the AIs analysed, not headcount 24:24 what labs and policymakers should actually do 28:45 the counterfactuals he still wants answered
