I’m often sneeringly accused by all sides of being ‘obsessed’ with the rise of trans. And it's true that for the past few years I’ve not been commissioned to write on much besides. Consequently, I’m now one of a handful of journalists to become expert in the issue. 1/3

Is it usual for a member of a scrutiny committee to hear only one side of oral evidence then leave?
Do both sides not deserve the respect of listening to them?
Was she bored, have an appointment, need a long lunch hour.
We should be informed.

No idea about the veracity of the story below, but this high profile dickhead's change of heart made me reflect on the devastation these egomaniacs wreak at all levels.
The hospital in my home town allowed itself to be advised by a young man who worked as a porter. He was just a small town oddball, straight I think, and intellectually quite limited. He gave himself a pornstar name and identified as trans, which involved wearing skimpy clothes and a wig.
He led the local Pride march, got sympathetic press coverage and enjoyed his five minutes of fame. For reasons that still baffle me, the hospital treated his cross-dressing as a qualification to advise it, and changed its policies accordingly.
He later decided that “living as a woman” was too hard, stopped cross-dressing and changed his name back. The policies, however, remained in place for years.
As I understand it, single-sex facilities have finally been restored. But the episode showed me just how much can be lost thanks to the whims of these men.

Please donate to @transwidows if you can & take the time to read the stories on their site.
There's a link to donate at the bottom of this article. Trans Widows' Voices are the only group supporting women whose partners adopt a trans identity.

I'm raising funds for the Build A Girl UK 2026 Christmas Programme.
BAG UK works with vulnerable girls aged 8-18 in Bradford. We need money for warm coats and shoes, also some goodies!
Please donate if you can and share everywhere

First evidence session I've sat through where there was a trigger warning at the outset. Can confirm, it was needed... bunch of mendacious, psychotic ideologues
Here you go! I sat through the evidence of the Draft Conversion Practices Bill... Kiely welcomed the addition of asexuality and non-binary identities to the bill, claiming both groups face attempts to convert them. (I’d warn readers against asking a non-binary asexual out lest they be criminalised, but that seems redundant.) terftimes.com/p/i-watched-so…

The approach is less like fiddling while Rome burns than hosting an adult colouring session with non-toxic crayons while women’s bodily autonomy is under assault on every front.

This is wonderful
From walking away from a women’s championship pool final in January 2024 - because she didn’t want to compete against a male, to now representing and winning 🥉 for England
Well done @PinchesLynne and thank you for fighting for fair sport for women & girls

Another meeting with expert psychotherapists, academics and experienced parents discussing the many potential harms of the terrible #CPBill #conversionbill. Some of us Parliamentarians have been steeped in this for several years, yet the Bill is being led through the House by those new MPs who had an agenda to push it as Labour Party activists and staffers. One drafted it, one is Chairing - and was the Head of Investigations against women like me. Women like me would have been blocked from joining the Bill Committee as a Labour MP, I have zero chance of getting near it and contributing now. Won't stop me finding other platforms to speak against it though, obviously...

The reason Jack Grove’s work is so remarkable is that he had the courage to look for the truth despite the harrassment he would receive from Arday, the police and the likes of Cadwalladr. I’m pleased that some journalists have the integrity to recognise this
Not a single news outlet has reviewed its coverage of Jason Arday, for accuracy or proportionality. Zero attempt has been made to conduct any inquiry into the media’s role in his death. Instead, the industry has moved into self-congratulatory mode. This isn’t just tone deaf, it betrays a systemic failure

A year of giving young women a voice. Brava! 🎉🎉🎉
A year ago today, the Cambridge University Society of Women was launched. I co-founded it as a student, and tonight the new committee hosts its first guest speaker of the year. Couldn’t be prouder @CUSocOfWomen

The electorate aren’t goldfish. Our memories are long enough to recall June 2024, when you declared that trans-identified men with penises should be able to use women’s public bathrooms. It took a Supreme Court ruling to force you to uphold women’s rights, and now you pose as our bold champion? Please.
The time for talk has long passed. This government is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to supporting women and girls.
We'll back practical action to confine misogyny to the history books - in public services, workplaces, and online.

I was proud to go to Battle of Ideas and share my thoughts on women's rights- I learned lots. I was also invited by a volunteer to speak on a panel at FiLiA last year, but unlike the pro-Hamas speaker, my invitation was rescinded after an intervention from management😁

Jolyon Maughaum is raging against Oxford Street’s Christmas lights because they celebrate the great JK Rowling. When will this tragic, grumpy old man get a life?, asks Jo Bartosch

The reporting by @jgro_the was factual, fair, proportionate and in the public interest. Smearing him for doing his job and doing it well is anti-journalism - anti-democracy if you really want to get into it - and people like Carole should think about where that line ends.

This is excellent news! Well done, UK!
I would love to see the same happen in the US!
Notice how pro porn people reframe strangulation as "breath play"
and depictions of sexually assaulting minors as "age play"
because using truthful terms exposes criminal behavior.
Did you know that on the 6th of November 2026 the UK Government is banning the publication and possession of pornography depicting breath play, age-play, and incest?
The maximum sentence for publication offences is five years imprisonment.
This will affect publishers and consumers globally.
The offences are, in simple terms:
1. Strangulation or suffocation.
(2 years for possession, 5 years for publication)
2. Penetrative sexual activity between people pretending to be related.
(2 years for possession, 5 years for publication)
3. Sexual activity between two people where (a reasonable person would think) at least one person is, or is pretending to be, under sixteen.
(3 years for possession, 5 years for publication)
I have provided criminal and obscenity law advice to UK and global creators, producers, platforms, and consumers on pornography publication and possession offences since 2006.
Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] for formal legal advice.

Lol, this is great.
Maugham’s latest campaign simply proves that the Good Law Project is a grievance engine... can you think of anything more tragic than a grumpy old man picking a fight with fairy lights?
